This weekend will be busy for me. Dog agility one day, but the next day will be spent planting my graduates into 1 gallon pots. They're doing so good! This last batch of cuttings did the best for me. I think I'm finally starting to figure this "fig thing" out. |

i'll be having a slow and easy weekend. after last week, i'm glad i have nothing to do. move Moscatel Preto to 1 gal, and some others to 3 gal, clean around the house and that would it about it. those cuttings look great :) |

How do you keep from breaking roots when you move them into new pots? Or is it just inevitable that some will be broken? Someone on here said he would flood the perlite and vermiculite until it floated away. Mine are in that P'ite/V'ite mixture and some look ready to move but I'm worried about the roots all breaking off. |

some will break off. as long as root ball is intact and good size, it will replace them. i use peat pot method, so i move the soil and root into 1 gal pot without disturbing the roots at all. last time i used new designed peat pot and that made a mess of things. the roots were not penetrating the peat pot. had to score them before moving them in and some, just removed all peat pot. but they all lived. with Moscatel Preto, i used old peat pot that i had left over. roots are penetrating the peat pot at this point and i have enough roots to just take the soil/root in the peat pot out of the cup and put into same soil mix in 1 gal like a plug. |

The figlings look great, and very cute helpers you have there. :-) . One of my "helpers" chewed my new two, 2 foot Alma figlings down to 12 inches. Oh well time to make lemonade, so I'm trying to start several cuttings from the chewed off pieces. |

it's like TLC means too much water.. doggie helper means chewed up cuttings.. my puppies will eat anything that they can fit into their mouth, and some that won't fit into their mouth, but they sure do their best to eat it. |
