Pattee , Zaino's nursery sells nice size fig trees for the money. I have purchased a 6 ft tall Atreano from them that is performing nicely. Angelo Zone 7A NY, LONG ISLAND |

Hi Angelo . I agree they have great prices/sized trees. I bought last year and this year: 2- Atreano Gold, Zaino's Negronne, 2- Zaino's Black, Zaino's Italian Purple Black and this Zaino's Italian Purple Red. Great trees and looks like all will have figs this season. That's exciting ! |

Pattee, Did the Zainos black produce for you last year? I bought one this spring and it has about 20 figs on it now. |

JohnnieB , I bought those this spring also . I don't think either one has that many on it - will have to check later. |

I also have the Atreano and a nice Negronne that I picked up this spring. The Area no is covered in figs. I plan on adding to the color took next spring one of each of the purple red and the purple black. It's a 2 hour drive each way for me. |

I bought an Italian black, or purple from them, can't remember. Definately not the same name as yours but it looks a hell of a lot like brown turkey. They sold me an excellent negronne so I let the other one slide. |

So the first breba on the Z's Italian Blk was ready to pick today, after some heavy rain yesterday . I'm not great describing taste , but will give it a go. After I cut it , there was a mild but distinct melon aroma. Taste wise , a slight melon taste , not very sweet, creamy, not crunchy w/ seeds. Maybe the rain yesterday mellowed it. Maybe it should have stayed on tree another day or two . This was the only breba , hopefully the main crop will taste better. Closed eye. Chilly spring was no help either. |

Suzie , hope it helps in some way. I am hoping that the main crop is better and will report when they ripen. |
