Now the real fun begins for you Jon :-) !  May it go well for you.

Bill, nothing like fig sap everywhere. With our warm January, they are really juicy this year; really juicy.

Bob C, can you grow Vasilika Sika there? i thought it requires Caprification.

Hi Pitangadiego,
I didn't understand well: Have you plans to play mikado or making a barbecue ? :P
Or did you buy a new piece of land ?

Jon, I can imagine. That stuff gets really sticky. I got it all over our dining room table one time. The wife wasn't too happy about it. I have my own table to work from now ;-)) .

BTW, all that juicyness just means the cuttings are oozing with life :) .

Not having been here for Jon's fig cutting and distribution extravaganza last year, I was wondering if that is just the first day's cuttings or the whole pile to be sent out?  That is a lot of cuttings, but I know Jon has a gazillion or two fig plants.

Just a few guesses, but that looks like about 15 bundles of branches behind the baskets, each with about 8 branches, each could be cut into about 4 big cuttings - that is roughly 480 cuttings.  It looks like there are about a dozen bags in each basket, each with 20-40 cuttings, estimating roughly another 720 cuttings already bagged up.   My guestimates could be off, but that could be 1200 cuttings sitting there!

Jon, Looks like you're having FUN!
Oh course you're going to tempt us all with a picture like THAT!!! :)

@ Ed. I'm fairly certain that the picture above represents only a small fraction of the total cuttings that Jon will have available by the time his list comes out. In fact, the number you have above is close to the number of varieties that Jon has access to.
Below is a quote from Encanto Farms welcome page :-) :

"Our collection currently includes about 100 banana varieties and about 1100 fig varieties."

Now there's a number for you to do some estimating with Ed :-0 !  Yeah, Jon has his work cut out for him in a big way.   But I'm sure you're use to it right Jon ;) ?

I've offered cuttings of 2 varieties at a time and about 200 of each and that was taxing enough.   I can't imagine how hard it is to offer a thousand varieties, or even a few hundred.

I just wonder if this will be a crazy rush to the door like you see on the news when Walmart opens on Black Friday http://youtu.be/1pTlDLsPK6k

It's worse.  I take a week off of work and don't move from in front of my computer.  I down load the list of offerings, format it the way Jon asks and re-upload it.  I ask for 12 of everything.  Then I email him 3 or 4 times an hour asking him if he's shipped it yet.  Jon called my psychiatrist and had him tranquilize me for a month.  There are hundreds of members who politely ask for 50-200 cuttings but there are another thousand of us who are rabid maniacs who cycle once per year near Feb 1st.  Watch out if we get your IP address!  The only one who's threatened bodily harm is Brent - haven't seen him around lately.  Maybe he got worse than tranquilized.

Will this post be updated with THE List or do we look out for another post?

He may post it here.. he may start a new thread.  But This Page should be updated with the links to the list and instructinos when it's ready.

I've just been refreshing it occasionally during the past 2 days.   Last year, the list was posted on 1/29, though he still didn't take orders until 2/1.

I wrote a program to refresh this list every 1/100th of a second and text me when the content changes.

Bob, If you are going through the trouble of writing a program, you might as well write it to check for the list, download the list, order two or three of everything, and hack a rich person's Swiss Bank account to pay for it... Just sayin'
