Here's a fig I had last summer on my Dark Portuguese, I later found a couple like it on same tree. This seem similar to the Dall'osso fig variety which has a high percentage of figs showing this shape. |

Hey Bass. I've seen a fair number of fruits that look like this from the parent trees of that Haikel (poss. Brunswick) fig. |

so what separates Dall'Osso from deformation of the fig? they are very unique. |

They appear to be a fig the forms in the eye of the first fig. I see them from time to time, on a different varieties. |

Fico dall'Osso seems to be a documented known variety. i heard there are different colorations also. figs4fun.com/Links/FigLink726j.pdf italian site that used to host above page doesn't seem to work any more. |

I have an Italian variety. (unk.) That was loaded with figs that were deformed like the one that Bass had. |

Jon true , the Butt fig i mentioned had 2 separate eyes and looked just like well a big round double cheeks and all. |

looking further into Dall'Osso, the true Dall'Osso will have hard embryo on the bottom when cut open. |
