I was having a very hard time finding cuttings of Zingerella then Rafed came through with a nice branch. Cut that branch in to 4 cuttings this winter and all of them took, 3 well and the last one was slow but took off finally.  Planted the 1 gallon in ground March 15th and it just amazes me how fast SOME of these figs grow.  Gifted the other two one gallon Zings and sold the 4th one, cheap:)    She already has figs on her and growing like a weed.  Of this years new varieties that were planted in ground Zing is third in growth only being beaten by Alma in first place and Maltese Beauty in second.

Rafed, thanks again:)

Willis, very nice looking plant. I had a very nice one last year but it was one of the 25 that died during the winter. It was one of my most
favorite of all 125+ varieties I had. Fortunately, one of the awesome forum members is replacing it for me. (Willis you may be aware of this)
Here is my description of it and the link to my pics.

This is an excellent fig. It has moved way up on my list after tasting the first main crop. The breba
does not compare. Almost a creamy raspberry, sweet with just a small amount of crunch. It was also able to ripen without any rain.  I will give this a 9 on a 1-10 scale.

Mike,

Yes, it is YOUR fault I went looking for it, you people and your lists :)    I did hear just recently that you had lost yours, sorry.   I'm glad it is being replaced and as fast as they grow you should be back to speed next year.  How old was the plant you lost?  Was it in the ground or in a pot?

It was a second year plant still in the pot but was going in the ground this spring. I hope yours is as good as the one I had.

It is looking a bit sad but it will perk up. I don't think it is going to win the growth race though.

Nice looking fig.
A fig of the Gypsy's wonder where the fig came from. LOL (zingarella means gypsy in Italian).

I rooted this one in Feb. of 2013 and I agree it is one of the healthiest looking and strongest growing figs I have.  The leaves have a nice dark green color with no hint of fmv.  It didn't fruit its first year but has quite a few main crop figs on it now.

Geez, here we go again! I'm sitting here, gears turning in my head, trying to figure out how many years it will be till I have room to try this one too.
I person has to have something to do in the winter right?
