Finally I get to contribute back to the fine folks here. Thanks to all for your help. My second ripe atreano fig pictures are attached (the first fig was picked a little too early). The heat thIs week has at least 7 figs swollen and starting to droop. I decided to pick this based on how dented it was looking. I know others said it would get deep banana yellow when ripe so I will try and let some others sit. Since I have no other fresh fig taste to really compare it to, take the taste description with a grain of salt. Very sweet, light berry taste, slight melon hint. |

Sorry didn't get back here sooner. Was a little sweeter and wife thought it was a little melon-y aftertaste. I need to experiment with what is fully ripe. I think I'll let these two hang for a while longer. Not sure if they will start to shrivel but they do get soft and the little skin cracks. Heavy rains 2 days ago and no splitting yet. |
