I pruned these figs for a Greek Friend today. She does not wrap them and they grow like crazy in zone 6. If you are looking for a delicious (her description) hearty fig this is a good one. It's a yellow fig with pink interior. Sorry no pics of figs. I do not know the variety but it was brought from Greece a long time ago. I did not taste them so I can't comment on flavor. You can see that they were hit by the polar vortex last winter but came back nicely this year. $12.00 for six big cuttings (US only). PM me with your Address. I should have 15-20 packages available.

I am avoiding sending tip cuttings in the 6 pack package.

I'm calling these: U. Yellow Greek AD (after my friend Ann)

Enjoy!

Great job spreading something different around Aaron. I really had a hard time not sending you a PM yesterday but I'm bursting at the seams as it is and for some reason I am still adding 2-3 more varieties this winter. I look forward to results and fruit pics from you recipients in the upcoming years.

Calvin,

I am in the same shoes, I could just sign under what you said.

Guys, please slow down with the new figs, I have no more room left :(

Aaron, just a quick update on the cuttings you sent.  Potted in a mix of 90% MG and 10% perlite (per RichinNJ), sitting on a heat mat with shop lighting overhead.  Looking good so far.  Just thought I would let you know how it was going.  Thanks again.

I got some of these from Aaron, and it may be one of the most vigorous rooters I have seen. It will be interesting to see what the figs are like. Mike in Hanover, VA

Like others have said these things want to grow. Very nice vigor. Fast roots and growth is really taking off as well. I started 4 of these with 74 other cuttings. 60 havent done anything yet that I can see yet these 4 are rooted out the bottom of the 3x3 tree pots and already out of the humidity chamber. I wish everything grew this fast.  Also no signs of FMV.

These were started on 3/17. One other has just come out of the humidity chamber and 2 others I gave to a friend and they are doing just as well.

I got to taste a couple of the Greek yellows recently. For the first year plants the figs were decent. Not too sweet by very jammy and creamy.

Does anyone still have cuttings of this fig? How well did it grow for you?

I lost all my figs this winter, and am trying to find varieties hardy enough to survive zone 6 in Michigan in ground.

I winterized my trees in the garage, but moved the trees early April. The last couple of frost we had froze all the new sprouts and young leaves. They are sprouting again. May be the tree develops tolerance to cold as they age.

I would give them 2-3 years in pots before planting in the ground. (At least in zone 7 or colder). After that they should be hardy. Be safe and wrap in winter as a precaution. However these were never wrapped where I collected them.
