Okay, Bass just shared with me a strange workplace experience he had and I now realize that this may be a common symptom of some serious problems with us figaholics!

Here is a dream of mine from two nights ago!

I was working on my dad's birthday party but was also busy irrigating alfalfa and that night the valve cover on the engine for our sprinkler pump blew off of the engine and oil went everywhere. I was up late at night and slept in late the next morning. When I woke up I found a note on my door that Hershell and Wills had dropped by for a visit to taste my figs. I was hoping that they'd just gone to town and would be back, especially after traveling 3,000 miles to come taste figs. But then I found another note from some guys from our Boy Scout troop. It was one adult leader and two boys (one of the boys was "Kenny", I forget the others). They had come by to help themselves for figs and detailed how many figs they had eaten from each variety. I was now sad because there were no fruits left for Hershell and Wills to taste.  The end! :)

Maybe you accidentally sprayed pesticide on your figs?


Seriously, I haven't had any dreams about figs but worrying about them has kept me from sleeping on occasion. Oh well, it can be a crazy hobby at times.

No pesticides on my figs and I haven't eaten one since November.  I've had dreams about figs many times!  This is the first one that had a sad outcome.

Bass needs to share his story but he might be too embarrassed.

I actually dreamed last night that I checked over my cuttings and they were rooting. Of course, I was happy.

Hopefully, Bass' story doesn't have to do with removing a fig leaf from a compromising location :)

Another odd fig dream.

A couple of weeks ago I was starting my fig rooting for the year and thinking a lot about the disadvantages of growing figs in pots (which I am doing considering my climate), and my wife and I also had been half seriously discussing wintering in FL in the future after retirement.  That night I had a weird dream about having a giant fig tree on a property that looked like my parents' former retirement place in FL that was covered with ripe green figs, but it looked more like a cartoon in my dream than a real fig tree.  Don't recall getting to eat any of them.

And no mushrooms here either.

Has to be something in the alfalfa, are you sure its alfalfa that you are growing?

Seriously i wouldn't have said this but since the topic is up. I have fig dreams all the time. From figs big as pares to all my figs rotting away. Some good dreams aome bad. Lol.

Eating roasted chestnuts too late in the evening has had me dreaming all night..LOL

I haven't eaten a chestnut for a while.  It's just the figs occupying my mind.  That's all.  Maybe you guys with out fig dreams just aren't serious enough about your figs! ;)

I have 3 kids. Too tired to dream. My weird sign is that I buy frozen vegetables instead of fresh because there is no more room in the crisper.

Tthanks Harvey, Now everyone will know that I will try almost anything to get to taste a fig.

  This is a strange coincidence, but I had a fig dream exactly 2 nights ago, too.  It was my first ever.  I don't remember any of the details now -- but it was so vivid at the time and I didn't think I'd forget.  I almost posted about it that morning.  It featured Grasa, who was wearing a green, brown and white Hawaiian shirt, and Dennis "SnagglePuss", who had the face of a man of Spanish descent whom I met at "Bills Fig Fest" last September.  I know Dennis' face from his profile, but I don't know Grasa's face --- but somehow I just knew that these people were Grasa and Dennis.
  I do remember it being a good dream...not one of those angst-ridden ones.

I dream about completing my irrigation and getting my fig trees in the ground. Almost there! I installed the last line of emitters for my orchard today. Now I just have 6 sets of valve stations to install.

I have the dreams too, especially in summertime.I even get excited to see figs mentioned in everyday life. Booze Traveler was in Armenia a few episodes back and they were drinking fig brandy and eating fresh figs as a pairing with another drink. I even cheered in church the other day when figs were mentioned!

I dream in figs too! Most of them about visiting Jon's place again. An amazing adventure and heck of a guy. If you have not gone, you must.

I'll second that.

Also, fig tasting at Wolfskill (UC Davis GRIN repository) is a must in my opinion. The long-term staff there are great. I'm not sure when it will be this year, but it gets posted on the ANR online event calendar. They have a sizeable collection of capri figs too which are featured a month or so earlier. Sending some email inquiries ahead of your visit is a good idea.

On the subject of GRIN, they do have cuttings available that are shipped in an appropriate season (for Figs, in the late winter). However, it is considered bad form to order something that is commercially available. Instead, go for the tasting (or earlier) and if you find something you can't live without that is not propagated commercially, then by all means order cuttings for the purpose of trials and distribution to nurseries in your area. So far I've introduced two cultivars (not figs) to the trade and I'm working on a third (a grape).

If there is ripped open or rotting fruit on the tree, birds will be attracted and also peck at unripe fruit. Keep your fruit trees clean of bird "magnets". This is easier of course if you control the height of the trees.

Crazy stuff there Harvey!  I have realized that after many figgy dreams I definitely am obsessing. Also, the need the check on them in the garage, to grow cuttings in the winter and to have your friends and work colleagues call you "the fig man" does not help the cause.

I'm not a big drinker... However, a couple days ago I was really bummed, went out and bought a bottle of a local chardonnay, split it with my housemate.

reason:  missed a shot at some panache cuttings for my rainbow-black mission espalier.

new it was stupid at the time
still I went n bought the wine
cuz would'a looked so fine
sweet figs all in a line

Tim hi I dont drink cause i am too cheap to buy wine , actually thats why i dont Smoke too. Always if i loose a plant in revenge of the circumstance i propagate ten more . Lol Its the cheapest
