I like the reddish color on this fig. Wondering if it is productive.

The fig should be darker when it is ripe. Here are some pics at the link from mine in 2014.

My tree was killed to the ground in Winter 2015,but it has come back to 5-6' with a number of figs. They should be ripening soon if I can keep the birds away.

Here are pics of my Brooklyn Dark, this is my first year with this, cuttings were from Encanto Farms.

Overall, these were slightly larger than my Chicago Hardy types and more juicy, sweeter, with a complex flavor if fully ripe.  Might have been my best fig this year.

Thanks for sharing, glad you like it.

Ed, what you got looks more like Ronde de Bordeaux.

Bass, what color is this fig supposed to be, and what do the leaves look like?  Your website shows a pretty dark purple breba but the other pic has a lot of green still on the figs.  I had no brebas due to weather but all of the main crop figs from this young plant have been a more solid purple, some perhaps a little lighter in color than my picture.   These have all been just a little larger than my HC or Sal's or Malta Black figs, most a bit larger than the one in my picture.

I will try to get some leaf pics of mine for comparison.

The cutting for this fig was from Jon at Encanto Farms 2y ago, came clearly labeled, and I am pretty certain this is what he sent me.  Jon's data base does not give an exterior or leaf pic, gives no description, and does not list his source.  Are there more than one 'Brooklyn Dark' varieties?

Beautiful fig Frank. You have sure come a long way in a short time Also: Nice fig Ed, but I agree with my friend Bass on this one My guess is there are many different variants of Brooklyn Dark figs around . Too many fig trees in Brooklyn to have only one recognized. Take this from a kid from Brooklyn

Sorry Frank, hope you don't think of this as hijacking your thread...

Maybe I need to find out from Jon what his Brooklyn Dark looks like and where it came from.
