I apologize if this has been addressed before...  I've searched relevant threads and have struck out finding the answer.

 Has anyone determined the optimum On/Off cycle timing for the misting (EZClone heads) in Aeroponic systems?

 I built my system using the 27 gal Costco bin, providing access for 35 cuttings.   With a 600 gpm pump and 22 EZClone heads, there is thorough spray coverage;  so, I am currently using a 1.5 min on/ 7 min off cycle...  my theory being that I wanted a break long enough to allow the water to drain from the cuttings and get 02 to the developing roots.  In the sealed environment, I see no chance of the cuttings drying during the 7 min break.  

 Am I off base here?  Is there a better sequencing?

I just saw a you tube presentation that said the botanical  cloner should be on 24-7 until you get good roots.

24 7 is what I ran mine at.

FWIW, since I don't have an aeroponic cloner, your logic sounds good to me.  In the humid climate under the lid i find it hard to believe the cuttings would dry out running as you suggested, and increase oxygen makes sense as well.  

I once saw where someone used a ultrasonic fogger to achieve a similar effect.

Save electricity where you can, i know with all the lights, heat mats, etc I need to be conscious of such. If you had two or more cloners, you could try 5min off, one on, and so on to compare best rooting versus timing, fun.

  Don, I'll indeed be giving a try at varied timing as you suggest...  I didn't want to not ask beforehand though, as it would just smart a bit if I started out at a rate that was already found to be detrimental to rooting ficus, and lose some expensive cuttings because of it.

Mine runs 24/7. I would only worry about time if the water was too hot. If there is a concern, run it 15mins on 15mins off. BUT 24/7 works fine.

I am also going a bit stronger this year on the cloner front. I built my own home made version and I splurged and bought a TurbloKlone unit. I will trial both and see which one does better.
I am also struggling with the cycle question. I have done a bit of research and have read the following:
15 minutes on and 15 minutes off
1 on and 5 off
90 seconds on and 8 minutes off.
These all came from Cannabis sites but I think the principle should apply well to figs
I have purchased a cycle timer and will try the above timings and see which seems to make the most sense.
I also trust and respect all that my friend Dennis has done and I will keep an eye on how hot the water gets running them 24/7

Here's a current picture taken just seconds ago. Ninety percent of the cuttings have rooted and are now leafing out. The garage is holding steady at 58 degrees,

  Thanks again, Dennis and Coop.   The cuttings seem to be very happy within these cycling parameters.  The rooting is far quicker than I was expecting... with over three inches gained on some varieties in only a few days.

  Some of that growth success may be due in part to maintaining the water at a constant 72*F through the use of a pretty high quality 24" aquarium heater.

After some research last year I ran 1 min on and 4 minutes off with great results.  No particular reason but research led me to believe that nobody really knows for sure.  Some run 24/7 like Dennis and some run more intermittently.  As long as the root zone is wet, I think the temp of the water is more important.  I did three batches of 35 last winter and ran into a problem on the third batch when the cloner was moved from the center of the room (where it was warmer) to an outside wall (where it was a little colder).  All of the cuttings started to fail and I was only able to salvage a few.  If Dennis is running at a steady 58 degrees, maybe it was the sudden change in temp that did them in.  I think you'll be fine with 1.5 min on/7 off.
