Does anyone have any experience using pesticide foggers? I lost my battle to SWD this year and have been taking a look at foggers like the Burgess propane fogger and the Longray foggers. |

Hi Nick, I am going to be deploying "attract and kill" baits this year to try and reduce the risk of an outbreak. |

Bait traps always worry me. If you have ever used a japanese beetle trap, you quickly realize it attracts beatles well, but kills only part of what it attracts. The rest eat you alive. |

Are those bait stations something you make or buy? Last year they ruined almost everything. This year was a lot better. I had a weeks of good weather and no flys. Then I noticed a few one day and the next day it rained and it was damp for the next two days. That's when the figs split and the swd population blew up. It took a few weeks of throwing out any ripening fig and a bit of Cooler weather until they seemed to go away. I bought spinosad online, but by the time I got it it was to late. |

I could not find any premade discs like that for sale, so am planning to make them with old row cover, probably a round shape that is tied shut like a pouch rather than sewn. And the raspberry concentrate they used is really expensive so I am going to try brewing up some other things like mulberry and wineberry. |

The one in the video is made from "superabsorbent woven polypropylene". Earlier on they used water absorbent polymer crystals. |

I'm guessing this isn't on the shelves at .home depot... I guess you could use another material as long as it holds the mixture. |
