Don't feel like the LONE RANGER JON,

There was a LOT of damn things said I didn't LIKE

One thing I have learned is a certain member can fly off the handle, say all kinds of things in the heat of the moment on THIS
forum, and 1 hr later send a private email saying he is going to delete the falsehood crap he posted.......I got no respect for that kind.

Delete this to if Ya want, your the boss

Hello Chills

Well this year went good on some aspects and darn bad on some!

I got some very nice cuttings from someone and was able to root almost all of them....That is the good part, now to the bad part
with the exception of 3 young trees I managed to kill
1-heirloom Celeste
2- UCD Kadotas
1-LSU Gold
1-Smith
1-Hollier
1-B. Marseilles VS
1-Sal's (gene strain)

I used Roundup to kill everything, weeds / trees

You can bet what your sitting on that ain't gonna happen again

I have plenty to root/try to root next Spring.

Hi Maggie,

I will be xtra careful when I do it on the fig plants/trees
them ole snakes would REALLY have to jump high to get me "there"

Did you have a specific test done for Figs and Fig needs?

Yes I did have the test did for Fig needs only!

Mostly around here we have deep sandy soil, I might add, I was kinda surprised at what they said about the soil here!

Also the cost to do the soil test is only $10.00 + shipping

I didn't have it tested for RKN (I assume they can do that too for more money

Thanks Jon,

In fact thanks to everyone that has replied to this thread!

Like I said earlier, I had a nice Hollier from J.R. but I did it "in"

Luckily for me a very nice, did I mention very nice member emailed me yesterday and thanks to him I am going to have some Hollier cuttings soon........I don't want to name him yet as my source because I haven't asked him was it OK!
Again, thanks everyone.

Hi J.A.

Yes that is what they say, Luckily we have a very good CO-OP

here in Elkhart, The Fertilizer Dept. told me to bring them the report and they can tell me what if anything I will need to do.

I don't plan on planting anything next year, I will plant what I have now, and what I will be trying to root in the Spring of 011

Well I put the two little cuttings in 50/50 Perlite/UPM!

I lost one of the little cuttings (rot)

the other one has a root about 1/4" long, so that is a good thing!

I agree,

The less you disturb the tender little roots the better.

BTW, is that drain holes up the side of the bottle? and if so why?

You will be fine!

I have in the past made a big mistake potting the young plants too soon, just let them stay in the containers they are in for a while yet, you might have to cut the sides of the container to get them out because of the shape of the bottle.

Hi Gene,

Looks like you are really doing great on your rooting project!

You have had some really good instructions, it is just a shame your instructor has painted himself in a corner so to speak!

Good luck to Ya.

Thanks Martin,

You should know how young the H.C. is!

Both plants are young! I plan on leaving them outdoors on the front porch until it gets down to 25* or so.

Hey Tim,

Not long ago Nelson said his Dad wanted to maybe buy a Hobby Farm, then he said his Dad would like to come to Texas to see some real Cowboys (surely he wasn't talking about the Dallas Cowboys)

Anyhow, if Nelson keeps rooting the cuttings and buying plants

He might have to come to Texas and buy the "Kings Ranch" that way he would be killin two birds with one stone!
