I know for sure they watch Ebay for out of country buying. EBAY will rat you out.

They came to my house and took all figs that's was in the same room as the contaminated trees from Turkey.

They arrived at my door with the print out of the eBay purchase. Info on seller and buyer. Literally the exact time I purchased it.

Just be careful people on who you buy from.

I have some cuttings on the way. I'm excited to hop back into the Game of Figs. I'm brushing up on some reading to find a rooting method to try. It's been over two years since I rooted a cutting so I'm really rusty.

Cut it down to a node or two. You will find out if it's dead or not that way too. By cutting it shorter you will be able to save the rest

Such a shame a beautiful tree like that is getting destroyed. I know you scratched the bark on the upper stems, but try it on the lower trunk.

It could be verticillium wilt which is a fungus. If this is the case you need to act fast before the fungus spreads. Take cuttings of healthy unaffected stems. The tree can be saved if given the right fertilizers and pruning.

If you had a friend to help it could be easier to get it out with a shovel. Two people on opposite sides will create a wedge shape using shovels. When both people push down on handle it could pop out a tree. I seen a stump get removed that way so I should work on a tree like this. You can get one of those tubs from Walmart with the rope handle to transport it.

Epsom salt could help.

The pictures are my Galica Negra that was sick looking also. I gave it some and poof. It was greener in about a week. If the problem is lack of Magnesium which is need for photosynthesis.

Would be nice to see how figs do on the West side of Washington compared to the Eastern side. Zone 8 compared to zone 6. I never been to that side of Washington so I don't know what the winters and summers are like. I'm guessing it's more cloudy and rainy while our side is hot and dryer maybe?

From my understanding that's how the breeding program work. X + common fig = new breed?

However it takes time to get the fig you want from the seeds because they can end up not being a new common fig or the fruit might not be good.

Have you checked the soil that the planted tree is growing in? It could be lacking some nutritions that encourage fruiting possibly.

Your compost would help with organics. Azomite could help with the minerals...it has over 70 natural minerals for heathly growth. Pine bark fines would help with drainage. Im not sure if anyone uses sand to make things gritty and less clumping.

Sounds like they are dead. You can scratch the bark, if you see green then it is still alive. Cut away all dead branches to the green growth.

Remove water as your soil/mix may be holding too much water and is drowning the roots.

Subject: Anyone try growing figs exclusively indoors with grow lights? Replies: 11

A grow tent might help your plants get as much light as possible. Personally I wouldn't try to get the plant to fruit but instead focus on growth. When it gets warm in your location then I would put them outside to fruit, that way you get the best taste you can.

If you have the room you can get a grow tent. Some of them have built in fans and such. Depends on your budget and your absolute need for one.

When growing plants indoors it's important not to have the light too close and have humidity. Air circulation helps also to keep the plants cool and get ride of hot spots.

No where on the site did it say it would be shipped bareroot. Even the tag on the plant says gallon. It was $20 for a gallon and $8.50 for a 4 inch pot. I'm going to send a email and ask what happened. I do have it potted up right now in shade.

I ordered a one gallon tree from Burnt Ridge nursery and got a bareroot tree. It's very thin and tall with no growth. I was expecting to get a active tree in a pot. Also this is my first time ordering from a nursery. Is it normal practice to send a bareroot tree that's labeled as one gallon?

Sometime I think that we are slaves to figs. As long as we are here they will never die. We propagate and spread them all over, even places that they would never have grown themselves. Maybe this is their grand plan?

The east coast has many figs because of the settlers that brought it with them for Europe and esle where. No one really traveled to the northwest and brought figs with them.

I do hate that I can't go outside and find figs growing in the wild in the Northwest unlike the east coast.

Also the Pacific Northwest doesn't seems to have much diversity in much of anything. Maybe that's my opinion because I'm from the south.

Provide a link to your F4F username. Ex. I'm greg88 on F4F. That will given them a chance to verify that you are real and that your trees are true. If possible say where the parents came from, such as if they came from great source.

Or something like that.
