Can you obtain all ten from UD repository, or certain seedlings?

HI Sue

The figs are from a friend in Western Australia, they had a fantastic summer, we had floods are the crop was disappointing.

I been told the Black Turkey is a fantastic fig, it has been at the owners property for 2 generations, very old fig

I can get some cuttings if interested?

I have to ask, is the preto similar to the BM?

The taste of the figs depends on environmental factors and terroir of the soil.

I have heard Noire de Carombe to bean excellent tasting fig.

In Brisbane Australia

Best are so far:

St John of Malta
Blue Provence
Red Conandria
Giovanni
Zaharias fig
Piconi
nicks flat fig
Williams No 5
Black Ischia
 others are coming late.

We had a very bad wet seaon, not the ideal weather figs maturing late and smaller

George

Hopefully it will be better next time

Subject: Can Arsenic and Mercury get into figs? Replies: 11

It depends on the mobility of ions in the soil.  Usually heavy ions complex so they become stable in the soil matrix.  But if the conditions favour for its mobility (acidic conditions) the roots of the pants will take it up with time.

Usually longer lived plants tend to have higher concentrations due to their long lived nature

HI Rafed

The problem with figs in Australia they have been  misnamed.

Brown Turkey is a loose term for figs here like the Black Genoa.

So answer to your question we could have yes.

Hi All

There is an unknown fig grown in Western Australia, Australia.

It has been at the grazing farm area for a couple of generations.

It is believed it was brought into the country by the early settlers in 1800s.

Leaves feel like velvet and big leaves.

Crops twice a year

HI Bass

The fig to me does not look like black genoa.  The leaves are very deeply elongated.  The black genoa in Australia I believe is used as a generic term for many black figs. I believe there true names have been lost or mistranslated through the years.

The common black genoa has broad leaves and the fruit are usually round.  These ones look flat..could be a burjassot?
