Additional information about this fig.
It is more than 7 years old. It was killed to the ground one time, from winter cold. Starts bearing about 15-20 august and anthill the end of September will be finish. First figs are green, but ripe and good tasting. Later figs become dark blue in color.

Very nice,FranciscoYesterday I had some of Marabout figs, really great testing. Very high sugar content.
Hi fig friends,
I need help!
A friend of mine has a fig that is very good testing. HI asks me to tell what variety is this … and I failed.
This fig is in ground in zone 7a/8b Bulgaria (EU), without winter protection. Probably of Italian origin.
I will highly appreciate any suggestion …

At this point we have 2 different figs with the name Goutee d’or (Doree).

javajunkie,You are right…those pine needles are from a “special” pine tree - Pinus exelsa (Himalayan pine).
I have only that pine tree in my yard . But any pine will be ok I guess…
Chivas,Yes, pine needles are keeping away the weeds and also maintain the moisture.
Actually ,I get olives from this particular tree last autumn for first time…but it is a small tree.
However, this variety is cold hardy and promising for my place.
rcantor,I already had fruit(8) last year …some very good.
javajunkie,This mulch is from pine needles.
Wait until end of June….
