It is such a shame that this forum has become a cesspool!

The rumors, assumption, mud slinging and slander...  the majority of you should be ashamed.

Slam me all you want children, I'm done here.

Once in awhile some pop up and sell for a reasonable price.  Others, I watch as laugh as people pay stupid money for them!!

It does get out of control quite often.  I have bid say $35 on something in the last few seconds and I'm out bid before it even posts and the auction closes at over $100.  Once in awhile, I get lucky, I've gotten some deals because nobody else was watching.

What about the 2016/2017 cuttings?

The 2016 trees don't yet exist which is effecting the 2017 trees...  So how will there be any cutting in-between?

If there is going to be cuttings that should push the 2017 trees out even more....  Unless those are going to be outsourced..... then there is the whole misslabling and trusted seller issue same as the material being used now.

True, but seems like unknown   member, who started this storm , not even a concerned buyer.....

Regardless of who did or did not say it first, we have all been thinking it!!  I for one am glad that the elephant in the room is being addressed.

Missing a self set dead line... or two is one thing, the lack of communication is one of the loudest bells here.  There is time to add updates the website for 2017 but not add a few quick notes here?

Not say that James is or has, yet this where the lies start to CYA.  Claims have been made that James has stated to some people that emails have gone out and the first wave of trees was already shipped.  Okay, to whom?  There has been NO posts here from anyone stating that they received an email or trees. We all know how exited we would be to get either and a post would DEFINITELY follow it.  I know I will post when I get my shipping notification.

Regardless of the back and forth, some good points were made and now I am more concerned than ever.  What we really need is for James to make a 100% honest post about where he is the process, and when things are going to actually start happening.  Many of you don't want the trees you ordered just yet due to heat and personal reasons, I on the other hand would like to receive the goods I paid for and was promised in early July.  As a business owner I fully understand that things happen and sometime you have to shift the schedule to the right.  When this happens, it is imperative that there be great deal of communication going on particularly when the funds have already been received on promised goods.

I know he is very busy, but to busy for a quick update? When I clicked on his user name it said he had not logged in for 11 days and had not posted for a month.

James, Please let us know how things are coming.

I was exited about the idea of some figs growing unprotected on the Ozark Plateau since I live at such a high altitude, so I checked out the Ozarks on line.  Yeah, I live at nearly 3 times the elevation of the highest point in the Ozarks and I'm not even in the foot hills of the Rockies.

I hope you are able to get some cuttings and they do well for you Gene!!

Strap grafts could also help to repair the damaged area.

Dennis,

A bite from any of the venomous snakes in your area should not be taken lightly.  Though you can't ID it, if it was a constrictor you would not have the pain you are describing. I highly recommend you seek professional help before irreversible damage is done.

I have never been envenomated thankfully, yet I used to be a federally licensed venomous snakes keeper and you don’t want to risk permanent long term issues.

These are you like suspects, though it could be an escaped or turned loose exotic.

  1. Copperhead (found throughout NC)
  2. Canebrake Rattlesnake (found throughout NC)
  3. Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake (found in southeastern NC)
  4. Pigmy Rattlesnake (found in southeastern NC)
  5. Cottonmouth or Water Moccasin (found in wetland areas in the eastern half of NC)
  6. Coral Snake (the rarest, found in the south and southeastern areas of NC)

It's been GM8 forever, changing it WILL cause confusion on one of few fig cultivars that doesn't have any confusion on it's name.

Are you planning to send a letter to EVERY person who owns one to inform them off your change?  Likely not.

Your bored and want to post something we get it... leave things alone!!!

Mine are going into their 3rd season.  Last year only one bloomed, this year both bloomed.  The fruit set was nearly 100%.  I was unable to try any, those who did try them made sure I knew how good they were.  I do not know the varieties off the top of my head.  It will be weeks before I can check to see if the tags are still there.

I did this last year on a Sweet George.  I girdled the tree and used a large nursery pot irrigating as needed, depending on the weather, that could have been twice a day.  I left it for 2 months before even peaking to see if there was roots, once I looked, I was very happy to see a pot filled with roots.  I cut the air layer off, placed it in morning sun only and slowly increased the sun every couple days.  The new tree never showed any signs of stress nor did it loose a single fig during the process.  I was very happy to be able to gift the tree with figs intact.

Not self pollinated.  Pollination not required to produce figs.  The figs will not have viable seed.

Sadly there are many unscrupulous sellers on ebay.  This one may not be, yet sounds as though they are.  Many people have paid $100.00 of more for one stick of brown turkey thinking it was Black Maderia, it is a sad truth about not investigating whom your buying from.  The scum of the earth ruin it for us all.

Yes, they can be rooted.  It does take longer in most cases so be patient. Fortunately the large cuttings have a lot of energy and tend to stay healthy during the rooting process.

Good luck with them!

Subject: Good gojis? Replies: 16

Jodi,

How many hours of sun do your Goji's get per day?  I have two, one gets 8 plus hours of direct unfiltered sun everyday and has more fruit on it then I can eat.  The other only gets 6 hours of sun per day and then shaded by the house, this one produces a few barriers on the southeast side of the plant where it gets the most sun.  I plan to plant a sucker in my front yard where it will get full sun from dawn to dusk to see how much effect this has on production.

So for me anyway, the more hours and more intense the sun the better they produce.

1000 W metal halide would be your best bet to try.  Figs need a lot of light and radiant heat to ripen properly.  The 1000W watt is the closest light that I am aware of to get close to achieving this.

Someone's home, or a church just ask them.  A park, as long as there is not sing stating that is a historic tree, I would not worry about it.  The roadside, as long as it is on privet property, no one will likely care.
