I live in Mesa, AZ. I have received trees from Frozen Joe and Centurion. I just trimmed my Panache Tiger Fig and have 3 other trees to get to. Send me an email with your info. You can come to my place and take as many cuttings as you want.

Thanks for the recipe. I have 4 trees in my backyard and I think the Grackles got more than me.

I love putting figs on my pizzas in place of pineapple. They add a really nice flavor.

I am really interested on how you like the taste. I have been pickling peppers all year, but I never thought about using my unripe figs.

Those recipes look great. I can confirm that figs as a pizza topping are delicious. We did a Hawaiian pizza, but instead of ham and pineapple we did ham and fig.

We cooked the pizza and ham topping first, then we pulled out the pizza and added the fig wedges. I cooked the pizza for an additional 2 minutes and it turned out great.

It is a family favorite.

Welcome to the forum. My panache have done great in AZ. We don't get too many freezes, but I can tell you that your trees will love the heat in the summer.

I also run aquariums. 1 reef, 1 cichlid, 1 community, and 1 Tilapia pond in the backyard for Aquaponics.

This has been a great forum. I have learned a ton.

My tree is still full of leaves, so I haven't made any cuts, but I did get a few cuttings from Frozen Joe (VdB).

Here is a pic of some new growth. This is my first attempt at cuttings, so we will see what happens. The pic was taken right after I watered the cups, so I have not emptied the collection tray. Don't be alarmed. they are not left in the stagnant water.

Similar to Pea Gravel, I use Hydroton which is the expanded clay pebbles for hydroponics. It can get pretty pricey, so I know people that use volcanic cinders for a fraction of the cost. It is a lot lighter than the pea gravel and serves the same purpose. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you all for the advice. FrozenJoe is going to give me some tips on my tree when I start to prune for the winter. I will post up if I have a few cuttings to pass on. This is a great community.

Here is a picture of my tree after 2 seasons.

I called the supplier that I got my previous tree from and he said that he has a Black Mission, Violet de Bordeaux, and Texas Blue Giant. I think the last two might be interesting. Any thoughts on those?

I bought my first fig tree 2 years ago from a local exotic plant nursery. The supplier had a wide assortment of fig trees.

I settled on the Panachee Fig, because I liked the striped fruit and idea of a berry flavored fruit.

I planted the tree in November 2012 when the tree was almost dorment. The next year I got almost no growth. This year my tree took off and I got a lot of fruit. My kids and I really love the flavor.

After researching the Tiger Fig I discovered that I really lucked out with my choice. The tree loves long hot summers.

My question is:

I am looking for a second tree. I would really like a dark fig with a red inside. What tree will do well in our hot Arizona summers?

I love the forum and have been lurking for 2 years. I will try to put some of my Panachee cuttings in my aquaponics growbed this fall. Hopefully I will get some results.

Thanks again.

Aaron

I am also running an aquaponic system. I have thought about putting some cuttings in my growbed. Thanks for the research. Hopefully I will get some success.

Thank you all for the information. I made a 5 gallon sip for fig cuttings and a mini sip as an experiment for my basil plant (recently pulled and heavily pruned from my Aquaponic System).

I planted at Panache Tiger Fig 2 years ago in the ground and am now seeing good growth. We should get the AZ guys together and have a fig tour when the crops are ripe.

I have a tiger fig tree that I planted last November here in Arizona. I have about 8 figs that are marble sized. Would this be considered a breba crop?
