What is the name of the tomatoes with the green stripes?  Those are so pretty.  The cukes look awesome too.  Do use netting for your figs? to keep the birds from eating them?

I think it depends on your particular state's regulations.  I don't know for sure what New Mexico's regulations are, but I am hopeful because I don't think they're as restrictive as some others like CA and AZ.  I would ensure that the roots would stay very moist regardless of whether I get to use potting mix.

Can wet paper towels work almost as well?  For all figs not in pots, I was intending to wrap their roots in moist paper towels and plastic/bags to prevent them from drying out.

Thank-you for your reply,  NM doesn't have any restrictions.  I hope you could do some media or little cups,   I so want these to make it.  Merry Christmas - God Bless Us All.

I made a garden bed today for the FEW I have.  And the survivors are: blk mission, brown turkey, LSU gold, genoa, Sal's, and Hardy Chicago. They are going in the ground on the east side.  I have only had one itty bitty brown turkey in my life so far.  but, It was fantastic!  That was in June 2013; I am waiting for the next one!  I'm beat from digging and tilling today.

Gene  Glad for your success,  I am a newbie here but just wanted to offer you a word of caution.  After I had to throw bins and bins AND bins of cuttings away that I had bought on ebay,  i thought I was going to have to stop this ' figging ' thing because it was too depressing for me.  I would have success in the humidity bin and then my roots would start to rot.  So my advice is, you make want to check w/others about potting up again when you are seeing good root growth on the side of the cups.   I may still  have to quit this but here I am again!

It has been a very expensive journey as a newbie, and w/o very much success.  BTW Rafed I have some wuhans still hanging in there.  But now, my big concern is:  When should the cutting be potted up from a cup to a Qt. or gallon?

I can't wait till I have something to trade.  I had thought growing fig cuttings was going to be easy, but I have encountered all kinds of setbacks.  I keep thinking I'm experienced - I've experienced so many things that can go wrong w/ this -- still a newbie w little success!

Greetings;  Does anyone have any experience with varieties that have done well in the Southwest?  We have hot long summers, sandy alkaline soil, and not much rain in southern NM.  We get cold 30degrees and less in the winter.   Brown turkey seems to fairly well here.   Thanks,

Thanks Soni for the list.  It is a great quick reference for me;  I wonder if I've bought Magnolia when it was listed as Brunswick.  Time will tell.
Also can you tell me what vs means?  Like Marseilles vs.  and baud? I get confused about Sal's also.  I am still new here.   Thanks.

Hello,  I am a newbie here, from NM and I was wondering if anyone has a better mix suggestion for me; or whatever the problem might be.  I am using > than 50% perlite with 40% peat and 10% sand.  I think the mix seems like its getting compacted.  The roots look white at first and then they turn brownish looking, and small/flattened.  I would like to know the secret of how to get those nice succulent white roots going on again.  Do I need to add something larger to the soil mix for more air?  Any help greatly appreciated.
