Herman, thank you for your advise. Most folks are talking about how to protect thier figs for the cold weather but hardly mention how to deal with 110 degree heat like here in Phoenix, Arizona. I make sure put a heavy layer of mulch and even painted my container white color to reflect the Arizona sun in the summer.

Jodi, I have over 120 varieties of figs in my back yard and I try to down size and see which varieties can stand the Phoenix summer heat. You are welcome to stop by if you are around my area in the future.

FYI Jodi, I brought my cuttings from Herman two years ago. One tree in the ground and the other in the container. My summer crop was pretty small and kind of dry up due to 110 degree summer heat here at Phoenix. However, my second crop (winter) turn out to be outstanding, it is my best tasting fig this year so far. I will try to provide my CDDG in the container with some shade cloth next summer and hope that I may be lucky with two decent crops.

Has anyone try to grow cutting upside down. I did this by mistake and later I find out this cutting is actual upside down. However the green bud still push out fron the top (bottom) and the root is growing like nut at the bottom (top). Will this baby going to make it?

Sorry, I only have few cuttings and they all gone in matter of few hours. My tree is still pretty young and I don't want to prune back to much this time but I will love to do some trading with you in the future.

My apology to all that I should tell the forum little bit about me. I am consider a newbie in the world of fig. I started my first fig just little over a year ago and has been hooked. I now have about 60 varieties in my back yard. Most are in a 20 gallon pot and about one dozen in the ground. I got a lot good information in this forum and I have learn a lot do and don’t. I am really enjoy growing part of it and my wife enjoys the eating which works out pretty well. I have very good success so far because my location is at Phoenix, Arizona (hot & dry). Many of my young fig trees have been rewarded me with lots of good tasting figs last summer. I am trying to down size my inventory to about half next year due limit space. Anyway, I am looking forward to trade some cuttings and maybe I can get few more new varieties to keep my wife happy.

I like to trade my de dame Gris cuttings with any forum member has col de dame blanc or noir. My col de dame Gris parent tree is coming from Herman. I only can spare two cuttings and would like to get 1 blanc and 1 noir if that is doable.

I believe the same seller also cancelled my order this morning after I won the bid on two Col De Dame B cuttings last night on eBay. I still mad even though he refund my $25. I wish some way we can black list seller like this on eBay.
