I burn about 2 cords of fir / alder each winter and the ash usually goes on the lawn.
It seems to love it.

Is it ok to use desert king main crop figs that weren't pollinated for the recipe?
Or do you use common figs only? Be a great way for us northerners to use the
DK's main crop if you can.

Thanks,

I"ve got one breba on my desert king that just started to drop. It will be my first taste
of a fresh fig. Sadly I'll have to split it 3 ways with wife and kid.

Has anyone heard of this variety ? A couple of nurseries in my town have them and I was in Vancouver Monday and saw them in a nursery there too. I've not seen much info on the net at all regarding them.
Was hoping if any of you could shed some light of this as none of the nursery workers knew much about figs. ( but I did buy a Peter's Honey while there lol )

Thanks,

Instead of cooking the oatmeal in water, my wife cooks it in apple juice, and adds cinnamon and brown sugar and a bit of cream after its cooked.

I just bought my first fig tree, a desert king! I've ben lurking on the boards a while to get info on figs and gardening in general. I live in Campbell River, B.C. which is zone 7a/b. Hopefully next year ill be able to share some cuttings. Last year my blueberries didn't fare so well when I went away on holidays for 2 weeks, my parents only watered the cat and not my plants. So I'm going to build a 5 gallon sip later today!
