Doug,
The cutting arrived, they are great!  Thank you for all the work you put into this and for the bonus.  I am sorry you are on the hook for shipping on some of the cuttings. Thank you for going the extra mile to help make this community the great place that it is.  I second what Cheryl said about reimbursing Doug for shipping, just do it :)

James, Figlet is fortunate to have such a wonderful home.  She looks adorable, keep us posted on her.  She can be your rodent control supervisor.  Glad things are progressing.

Nice pictures of all you are doing.  Keep up the good work.  For what its worth, you made the only decision a farmer can make, you focus on the crop when it needs your time.

Do you have any experience with the hardiness of these varieties and their ability to fruit after winter damage? They look great.

This thread is evidence that many people are frustrated about the current delay in shipment and some are concerned about whether they will receive their plants.  However, it seems to me that this thread is not resolving either these frustrations or the problem and instead has morphed into something that is increasing, not relieving that frustration, and since James does not have a business contract with this forum, but instead with individual members, I do not see a way that there can be resolution of this conflict in this discussion and believe it can only occur with individual private conversations between James and individual members.  However my primary reason for writing this is that I see this discussion, in what it has become, creating an atmosphere that is fostering animosity and conflict that is harming and not helping our fig community.  I am just a member, and a new member at that, so I have a small platform to speak from.  That being said my request is that before posting on this thread, each of us considers our fig community and the effects of our post on it.

"The goal of this Forum is to provide a fun and friendly arena for the exchange of ideas and plant materials by connecting people to one another."

The above statement from the Forum decorum section is why I am a member of this forum.  I want to learn more about figs by sharing with other people who love figs.  Personally, I applaud James for undertaking such a big project.  I wonder how of us on this forum would have the energy, drive and entrepreneurial skills to handle something like this.  It seems we should all be "rooting" for James to be successful not critiquing him.  Also, I have a commercial peach orchard and there are times the commercial nurseries will have to modify or reduce an order due to unforseen circumstances.  I have ordered trees for 16 and 17 so I have skin in the game.  I think the spirit of this forum is to give members the benefit until proven otherwise.  Just my 2 cents

Thank you for the information.  BTW Is it as productive as the other EBT varieties for you?

That is a good looking fig, thanks for sharing about it.  I am intrigued by the diversity of opinion on the  flavor of EBT's, so I am always interested when somebody raves about a EBT's flavor.  Sounds like a very good one for the want list.  Too bad is it hard to root,  Is it also difficult to airlayer or just difficult to root cuttings?

I read this post by tony on Brooklyn White,

"Seems no matter if picked within a range of a week or more, whether field ripe, store ripe, dead ripe, or fairly early with raw sap pouring out of the end of the neck like this one, Brooklyn White packs enough sugar and flavor to be jelly good"

This post raised the question, how many other fig varieties have a longer harvest window where the flavor and quality remain good.  For those of you have have the experience I would love to hear your opinions about which other varieties share this trait.

I need some information about this fig.  I have read that this fig is patented in the US but I can't find specific information.  Does anyone know if this is patented or trademarked in the US?  If it is patented does anyone know the plant patent number?  I am considering growing some trees for a small figyard and I don't want to break the law by propagating a plant that has a patent that is still in force.  Thanks in advance.

Is there anyone who has propagated figs via tissue culture?  I would like to try this to propagate plants for a 1/4 acre planting.  I have propagated blueberries and raspberries but not figs.  If anyone has any techniques that worked, or did not work, for them I would be grateful for any suggestions or advice.  Thanks a lot in advance.

I am intrigued by the mention of this hardy kiwi variety you have.  What do you consider its best traits?  On a side note, what is your success in rooting hardwood arguta cuttings,  mine has been poor.  Any tips?  Do you have any cuttings of this?  Thanks

I have an unknown cherry type tomato from Mexico that does extremely well here in my summers I think we hit 104F but the leaves just wilted and bounced back afternight. The fruit are extremely sweet. I do have some left over saved seed.

Matthew, thank you for the offer, that is very nice.  Cherry tomatoes are the one type I have that will produce all summer, sometimes we want what we can't have.

Thank you very much for suggestions of varieties to try.  I really miss having fresh tomatoes to eat when the summers are hot.

I live in Milton Freewater OR.  Medford is about 5-10 degrees hotter in the summer.  I have Hardy Chicago here and it handles the heat here just fine.

Thank you for showing a way to make these.  I can use this not only on figs but on berries and kiwi propagation.  That is ingenious.  Did you see this done somewhere or was it a brainstorm?  They say necessity is the mother of invention.  Are they time consuming to make?  Thanks again for sharing.

If you want a nursery with a website, Adams County Nursery has a large selection and I have been happy with their recommendations of plums/pluots for me.  Since I live in Eastern Oregon I don't know what varieties would grow well in your area.  There is also Cummins Nursery in New York.

I have a hardy chicago fig in the ground and I want to try some other varieties in the ground as well, without protection.  I am in zone 7a Eastern Oregon.  In my location I can plant the figs up against a building or I can shelter them from the prevailing winds in the winter, but I can't do both.  Which one of these is more important in getting figs through a cold winter?  This forum has been great to read, thanks in advance for sharing your experience.
