Subject: Starting cuttings for the first time Replies: 7

I live in northern Indiana.

I have my 2 fig trees in big pots stiil outside.
I had been getting ripened figs of one of them until the 1st of November.
They have dropped their leaves and I am ready to move them into an unheated garage.
I have never done cuttings before.
Is this the time the to prune for cuttings?
Can I store them in damp newspaper with shredded peat through winter?

All suggestions from experienced growers appreciated.
Thank you.

I live near South Bend , In close to Michigan border.
I was given two small fig starts 3 years ago. I have them potted and store them in unheated garage during winter.
Last year I had 3 figs ripen before frost, (end of Sep) .
This year they begin to ripen 1st of Aug. with numerous figs on one tree. I think they are Celeste. They have a pleasant sweet plum like taste. I am attaching photos.

I have winterized my two potted fig trees in unheated garage afer with holding water when the leaves dropped in the fall. I begin watering abit the first of April while still dormant and move them outside to the south side of the garage as weather warms and buds swell.
This year was the bumper crop year on one of the trees.

I live in Elkhart, IN near Michigan state line.
I was given 2 small fig starts 2 years ago and have stored them in unheated garage in planter containers. I do not know for sure what variety they are. They came from Alabama.
I pinshed back serval of the new growth buds on one tree and it ix loaded with figs. I am attaching photos of the tree and the 2nd ripe fig before I ate it. It was very sweet. Think I could have waited a few more days to pick it.
Help me out with the variety if you can.
Thank you

I am in northern Indiana and was given 2 small sucker plants 2 years ago, I have moved them from smaller to larger pots and root pruned at that time. I have no idea the type. I did have 2 figs that ripened the end of September last year.
I will try uploading photos.

Here are my 2 fig trees given to me as side suckers to plant in 2014. I live in notthern Indiana so winter them in unheated garage.
Nor sure what kind they are.
Last year several figs were on the trees but only two ripened in mid October. Here are photos of the potted trees and figlets so far.
I have pinched off new leaf buds and have forced figlets. Unable to upload photos

I was given two young fig plants last yearand they really grew this year with one plant putting on 4 figs. Right now they are no bigger than my thumb. Is this common?
