I have had so much figs this season , I'm beyond happy . Chicago hardy is a classic that produces better than any other fig I have . Counted 72 many more on the tree I couldn't reach !

I'm from greenwood , the tree is about 4 years old . It usually dies back but , last winter was mild so they survived .

Been getting 2-3 dozen figs everyday for the past week and a half . By far the best fog harvest to date .

i in the process of trimming my fig tree to comfortably be able to wrap it when the temps get low. lost most its leaves now , so soon it will be ready. i have a lot cutting that will be from what i trim. some are thin and some will be pretty thick. some are green and some are brown. i have successfully rooted some green cuttings last month that i gifted . they didn't take long to root maybe a month or so.if interested please pm me .

Oh ok but isn't that the same ingredients as the mosquito dunks ? I didn't know they were that harmful to plants seen only a few

So I finally seen the dreaded fungus gnats . I read in othe post that mosquitos dunks work but is it ok to spray the leaves by accident? Also are fruit flys a concern cause they are everywhere in my grow room . I just notice roots on most my cuttings so I'm a little worried . Can't tell you guys how excited it is to see roots on 100 % of my cuttings . My wife calls me obsess cause I keep checking on them lol.

Figs I just picked with a flashlight . They are harvested every other day .been really rainy past day so the flavor was a little off from earlier harvest

so i have two cuttings that have like one long root.  i don't know if i should put it in cups or wait till more roots come out. I'm afraid that i might break the only root that it has when i go to cup it up.

Local nursery, 5 bucks so not really a big loss. I just took all the leafs off since they were all yellow . Just never seen a fig like that .im going to look more into 3d espalier.

since  i think i toast my desert kings , is there anyone that is willing to sell or trade a few cuttings. my only mature fig tree is a chicago hardy tree that produces a lot of great figs a year .this year i got 100 + figs that my whole family enjoyed.

so i figured i move the probe a little higher in my container and i think i might of fried my dessert king cuttings . the roots were white yesterday and now they seem brown . i put the probe right in the peat moss and it measured 100.5 degrees . do you guys think they are fried ? kinda bummed out that i lost my desert king cuttings .

i live in zone 7a so my season is coming to an end. i am keeping them in my house where i have some old lights i had from my reef aquariums. i bought two plants one is a celeste and the other is marseilles fig. the celeste is doing great but the marseilles is the one i wish to prune.

i bought a fig tree at a local greenhouse and it is really root bound it has a lot of branching for such a small pot. so , my question is can i prune it after i transfer it to a larger pot ? it has a lot of leafless top growth. maybe to jumpstart new root growth?

Unfortunately they had them cut down cause all the figs brought tons of mice and other pest . My father still talks about them since the tree were  planted when he was child.

i guess your right frankallen lol. I guess should start with how i first encountered this magnificent plant. Well , it was about 15 years ago when i first visited my grandmothers house in Mexico .There she had a giant fig tree that reached the third floor , with hundreds of figs on it. it funny how you could smell the unique scent of figs from 20 feet away. i remember picking lot of very big green figs that were so sweet that you couldn't stop eaten them . since the tree was next to the stairs which spiraled upwards you could pick even from the tallest branches . Every since that day i loved figs ,which for some reason can't seem to find locally?  fastfoward 12 years ... i find myself looking at plants at my local lowes to find FIGS for sell . i bought the biggest one and planted it as soon as got home. only to have it die that winter ... or so i thought. out of nowhere it starts growing new shoots to grow twice as big as when i bought it.that season i only got 3 small figs before it went dormant and died off. this spring i cut all of the dead branches off and hoped that it once again grew. Well i tell you what, it grew to about 12 feet with lots of branches and this time it has tons of figs. i pluck about 3 or 4 a day .

i got the fig fever. Been trying to find some new figs to grow. i have a 3 year old Chicago hardy fig tree thats has tons of fruit . just trying to see if i can grow so other types of figs.
I'm on the eastern shore  DE.
