Good luck rooting them. I also was the winner of the Ponte Tresa cuttings. As soon as I received them I started rooting them in spagnum moss. One has been transferred into a cup and roots are to the edge now. The other cutting is leafing out and starting to show signs or roots in the moss. So far looking good..

Right now the temp is -14 F coldest day so far this winter. I am very new to figs and also would like to hear responses on this topic. Zone 5 will be a challenge but am willing to trial some inground with protection when they are big enough to try. Chad

Agreed guys. Unfortunate that people have to waste years and money waiting for a variety they will not get. Karma will catch up to them soon enough.

The seller can't leave negative feedback on the buyer. Purchase multiple items and leave negative feed back for each one stating you googled there eBay ID and figured out they were dishonest. Then request to cancel all sales. If they get there account below standard eBay will shut it down.

Great idea but If there was another bidder they can just do the second chance offer. That's where negative feedback would hurt them the most.

Happens all the time.. eBay says they take measures against this pfffftt. Price goes up they get higher commission. eBay is a scammers paradise.

Subject: getting rid of scale Replies: 18

Scrub scale with toothbrush dipped with rubbing alcohol to remove. Spray tree with hose. Apply neem oil on the stems and leaves. Make sure you get under leaves well. Apply neem every week for a month since eggs will still present. This is what I do for citrus trees and should work with any tree. Good luck Chad

Nice! Will be looking for them. I have tried other brands mission dried figs and though they were not so great. Black mission seems to be the only dried fig I see in stores. Are they the most common fig commercially grown?

If your tree is scale infected attempt to scrape or brush them off with a tooth brush dipping it in rubbing alcohol. Alcohol will not hurt your tree and kills them on contact. Then spray your tree off with a garden hose to give it a good bath. Might as well flush your soil out as well to get rid of built up salt buildup. Let tree dry off. Apply neem heavily stems leafs and under everything. Apply to the top of soil it won't hurt. I would apply every week for a as long as recommended on bottle. There will be eggs still present and some scale you might have missed. When you have that under control you can add a squirt of dawn dish soap to a squirt bottle full of water and spray your tree once and a while to keep the other bugs under control this winter. Citrus trees are very needy compared to figs. Good luck

Check your tree for scale as that is a sign if you have a lot of ants on your tree. Flat transparent bugs that attach to stems and leave a sticky residue that ants love. Neem oil or some dish soap mixed with water can help suffocate unwanted bugs. All my trees have been treated before I brought them in for winter. I will continue treating all winter for spider mites. Good luck

The cuttings were started 10/31 and 11/5 in spagnum moss. I went with T5 bulbs and my citrus trees really respond well but it might be over kill for figs. Some here think T8 are good enough plus it is less money. But this is what I have and it works well for cuttings or seedlings. Chad

Hey Dan the your cuttings are doing well in Iowa so far 100% success. They are soaking up some sun as it snows outside. Both packs went into damp sphagnum moss and just put the last cuttings into cups today. About 50 trees in cups total so far. As soon as they had roots showing in the cup I removed them from tote humidity as long as there was no budding out. Totally hardened to low humidity now by doing that. Couple leafed out and then showed roots in the cup so I slowly acclimated to low humidity. Thanks to the great info this forum provided I had good results. Now just keep up on the watering until spring. The quality of your cuttings are great Dan. Thanks again..

I read on a baking fourm about this issue. People were saying anything rigid sealed seemed to leak when they sealed about half the time. Especially since it is a stick I can possibly see when the plastic seals it creates a small pinhole in the plastic. This was there best guess. Some people recommended putting the item in a plastic baggie before sealing the item. I am going to try that to see if that helps.
