Do you have a Agriculture Center in your area? Here in Orlando Fl. we do. In the case that if you do then call and go to see them n person and ask them for their professional opinion.

My Italian Everbearing are loosing their leaves here in Orlando, Fl. U.S.A. They have green figs on them and also ones that are just starting to grow. My question is are they going dormant and will they loose all of their leaves? And also will the figs continue to ripen or fall off? This is my first year with them.

I don't know where you live but here in the U.S. we have what are called a County Agriculture Agent. If your in the U.S. then you could take a leaf and picture to him and he would be able to help you out.

I planted two trees in Feb. 2016 in the full sun here in Orlando,Fl., U.S.A. They didn't do too well, so I asked for replacement trees to be sent. The rainy season finally came and they started to do better. Hurricane Matthew came in Oct. and most of the leaves on the taller one came off. Now the taller one has about 25 figs on it and I have eaten about 4.
I took one out of the ground and put it in a pot on my patio and it is doing better than the 2 in the ground.
What I would like to have help with is this,
1. Is it better to grow Italian Everbearing in the ground or in a pot on my patio?
2. When, how, and how much should I cut back the ones in the ground?
3. How tall should I let them get?

Ever try putting them in the frig after they are ripe? May be they wouldn't mold that way. Just be sure to put therm on a paper towel to absorb any moisture.

The figtrees are still producing ripe figs. I have some 30 figs from last friday that rotted on the balcony. I'll have to trash them before they smell too bad... and I'll go harvest some fresh ones :)
The problem is they don't last long once harvested, because they ripened in the milder/cooler weather, so as soon as you bring them in the warmer air of your house ... they ripen and turn moldy in one day.
So I need to eat or process them the same day that I fetch them ...

They look like aphid left overs to me. Try a soap spray about a teaspoon to a half gallon of water. If you have a county agriculture person in your area (do a web search for your area, type in your county then agriculture center). You could then send him a picture or possibly take a few leaves to them to diagnose in person. They even have volunteers there who have taken classes and have been certified as "Master Hardners", Al least that is the way that the do it here in Orlando, Fl. Good Luck.

I planted 2 Italian Everbearing trees in Feb. 2016 here in Orlando, Fl, U.S.A. I'm wondering how old they have to be in order to get fruit. They are in ground in full sun. I also have one in a pot on my patio and it grows better with more leaves and compact growth.

Can you give a pattern for the hawk with exact measurements? I m thinking about covering it with black plastic garbage bags and then tapeing it with duct tape and making duct tape tails covered with glitter.

I can't find the web site for JVK. It must be a Canadian company. I did locate a 10 gallon plastic trash can for 6.99 online at Amazon. So what if it is bright yellow. If the inground one doesn't do well this year then I'll put it in the can and move it onto my patio. I'm in Orlando, Fl. and it gets very hot here in the summer and this is the first year that they are growing.Perhaps that's why the inground one isn't doing that well. Thanks for the trash can idea.
Really you are 102 yrs. old?

Where do you get the 10gallon containers to grow your figs in? Will they be able to stay in there for ever? I have one fig in a container on ny patio and I notice that it is growing better than the two that I have in the ground.

On my fig tree there are some leaves that have turned yellow and have brown spots on them. They eventually fall off. I have not fertilized because I read that you don't have to. I planted them in February 2016 here in Orlando, Fl.

I just planted my 2 bare root Italian Everbearing Fig Trees that I got in the mail here in Orlando on Sat. Feb. 13, 2016.
They are approx. 5 ft. tall sticks with no branches or leaves. I water them every other day for 2 hrs.
What I would like to know is when will they start to grow? Is there anything else that I should be doing? When do I fertilize them?
