Another option for non plant kind of people is self watering pots, Walmart sells some where there is a reservoir at the bottom to fill so there is no guessing, yet a fig tree can only be kept so long in a pot like that they only make them so big. yet some fig collectors make home-made self watering pots. Might any of them plant them in the ground some day? Agree with alanmercieca . I am using pots and irrigation system connected to electric timer to make sure my fig tree gets sufficient and regular water in a hot season. Anyway, I have only 2 seasons, hot and rainy :-)
