I have a few unknowns black figs. Maybe one of them in 2017 may turnout to be BB10

Anyway, it can only be as good as zonal requirements allow it to be.

Yes, I do have LSU Tiger. I like it. Unfortunately due to its lateness that coincide with my Fall salmon fishing hobby, I have given it much less focus.
The other key issue here during Fall is related to fruit flies --- too many fruits ripening & the flies have their "happy" days. I have trial many LSU
variants except for the cat series & Buddy Lee. The standout based strictly on earliness is ICON & O'rourke.
I like the name ICON.

Important piece of info I missed out in my comments regarding my Improved Celeste 'Not' is that It Ripens Earlier than Florea. Any variant
That ripens earlier than Florea with superior taste is a Bonus for my PNW zone.

My LSU St Gabriel is closely similar to my LSU Improved Celeste "Not". Hollier is awesome tasting - in my zone it taste better than Red, Yellow, White Honey etc. Just unfortunate that bulk of it ripen with the onset of much cooler/ rainy weather. Adriano told me that Hollier is very good tasting for his zone.

After trailing for a few years, I find the most ideal LSU variants for my PNW(southern Canada) zone are :

Improved Celeste "Not"
LSU O'rourke

These 2 variants are evaluated based on earliness, good taste, reliability, good productivity & spoilage from rain. No greenhouse help needed. Hence if anyone in my zone are looking to add new variants, these 2 variants are highly recommended. My Improved Celeste "Not" ripens earlier than O'rourke.

Improved Celeste, Champagne, Tiger, O'rourke were design to replace Celeste. Many reports mentioned Celeste have a tendency to abort its crop. My Celeste behave in this manner whereas the LSU variants don't. LSU Improved Celeste is bigger in fig size over Celeste.

Apart from DK producing a good breba crop, other good breba producers Osborne Prolific, Latarrula, Gilette, Ariane, Granthams Royal, Giehbulb, Morena. Taste wise, Granthams Royal beats all.

@Pino - I can send U LdA tree. I have 4 trees, 3 of them in pots and a large in-ground tree. Ripening now.

Longue d'Aout, Osborne Prolific, Nebo, Salem Dark, Filaciano, LSU Hollier, Conadria, Elana, Champagne, Florea,
Flanders -- these are my trees in ground that have done well in my zone 6/7.

I have plans to put in ground late winter 2017 LSU Improved Celeste, St Gabriel, LSU O'rourke and Lamperia Preta

Art Knap nursery Langley have sold a variant known as Improved Celeste. It has no LSU designation. Another LSU variant ripening now is St Gabriel.

@ Herman2 - next season I will put my LSU Improved Celeste into ground. It is indeed a high quality fig.

First to ripen about 2 weeks ago is LSU Improved Celeste. Yesterday we picked a bunch of Florea and RdB's. Some Florea had over ripen. Also saw 2 variants have turned coloured. These 2 variants are Barbillone and LSU O'rourke. Many others in pot culture are showing their readiness to start their ripening journey pretty soon like Rob's Genovese Nero, Tena, KB, Scott Yellow, Cajun Gold, LSU Gold, Hollier, Nebo, Natalina, Norella, etc

Bodes well for Pacific North West to have LSU Improved Celeste to ripen this early. It is a high quality tasting fig.

Nas, I have a spare tree. Pick up only. Too big. I can start an air layer with no guarantees that it
Will root by late Sept. For sure it will root by either early summer or mid summer. Cuttings plentiful
If U prefer rooting. I have a large in ground mother tree.

Yes I have Dauphine. Based on Color it does look different. Maybe your tree is young. What counts more is taste. My number One all round breba only tree is Granthams Royal. Better tasting than DK, Filanciano,,Blanche Alasche, Latarrula, Osborne Prolific.. My GR is heavily laden with figs and they are showing signs of swelling & turning Color..

Should remove almost all leaves and keep plant in shade. Keep plant well watered. The leaves transpire too much. For
an air layer of that size, it is better to have a bigger root ball.

Hardy Chicago for overall quality in taste. HC is not as productive or early like MBVS.

Longue de A'out other names Slocan, I395, Melanzana Merdoscola
Paradiso Gene, Paradiso Bronze, Paradiso Dusan, Paradiso Morle(Some says it is Brunswick)

Now I have Melanzana AF and I have been told it is not the real Melanzana. Hence I add a "NOT" to it so that
it is reference to source. Happens my Melanzana AF "Not" is an excellent fig - hardy, productive, reliable, excellent
taste and ripens main crop.

There are 2 Enrico's too.

Interesting fig hobby ..... confusing at times. Needs to keep KOOL.

Kerry, my in-ground RdB here produces a reliable huge crop. Seemingly it is a variant that does not require a long
period to ripen main crop figs. This is excellent -- I get a good feed on them before I immerse myself in salmon fishing.
I have 5 RdB plants -- 2 in-ground and 3 in pots. No protection for my in ground trees. I have no issues prunning Florea
& RdB hard for main crop.

All my Mt.Etna figs ripen later than RdB. In my 6/7 zone, my Rdb's are never protected -- whether in the ground or in pots. My I258 & all CDD's variants need protection. Definitely late producers. Usually for main crop figs, the earliest to ripen for me consistently have been Florea followed by RdB -- about a week or 2 behind Florea by around mid Sept. However last season the winter was mild and so is 2016, hence most variants were about 3 to 4 weeks early. As I write I am surprise my 1st 2016 ripe fig came from Martin's Unknown. Most of my breba figs are at a stage where ripening can happen especially Ariane and Morena.

Given your zone, the more reliable variant for bountiful figs would be RdB. Both I258
or CDDG needs a longer season.
