Thanks, Paul. I posted a couple of weeks ago on the taste of figs, where I commented that by inferring the taste of a fig to some other fruits does not give the fig its rightful place in the fruit world. True, it is sometimes necessary to do that, but we normally would not do that to peaches or apples. If I want to taste a strawberry jam, I will eat strawberry jam, instead of a SV fig. In other worlds, SV figs must have its own flavor for me to eat it, not a strawberry like jam. No offense in my comments, though. I guess we need new descriptive wordings for figs, but I will not hold my breath for this.
While it is difficult to describe the taste of one fig, sometimes, it is possible to discern the DIFFERENCES among fig cultivars, and make SOME comparative comments. It is like tasting different wines. I wish we have fig connoisseurs to do this kind of job...They seem to have endless vocabulary at their disposal.
