Frank...I have one of your N.J. Red's in my potted fig orchard...the tree is 1 1/2 yrs. old and starting to develop some small figs this year...I'm thinking maybe next year or the year after I will be enjoying some N.J. Red figs that look something like yours...thanks so much for the cutting.

How do they hold up with several days/weeks of rain?

That is a beauty, Frank. I'd love to try it in CA, should cuttings be available come winter.

They look great! I hope it yields a lot of that pesky wood for you to trim off and disperse.

Thanks everyone. I should have some cuttings in December for those who remind me. Wayne, NJ Red takes the rain really well. I have never had a problem with splitting/rotting. The birds are another story. You may recall this is the tree that was run over by an SUV.http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/4000-pound-suv-meets-fig-tree-6816073?highlight=suv&pid=1282050717#post1282050717

My first roots hit the side of the cup yesterday! I am actually surprised how this one is taking longer than all my other cuttings to root, out of 4 NJR cuttings only one is in a cup so-far. The other 3 are still in the bags, looking good with no concern for decomposition, but still just minding their time. 7 of 8 cuttings from 2 different varieties started the same day as NJR are in cups with roots and varying levels of sprouts. I am excited to be adding this one to the collection. I wonder how the original mother tree faired the polar vortex last winter? Thanks again Frank!
