$7 fig trees for spring/summer delivery, around 150+ varieties

Image result for broken little toe

lol.

I remember racing a hare-scramble (dirt bikes) and caught my toes between a rock and the foot peg. It broke the steel plates on the outside, bent the inside plate and lost three toenails. My foot felt like the picture with three toes. They didn't look like that though, lol

Haha,that's just wrong.

Another delay... Guys, get ready to wait for summer or late summer delivery.
For the hard to root varieties, the wait will be longer. Maybe in the fall or early next year.
Delay, this word has been used by James so many times.
James, if your pinkie toe is really broken I wish you a fast recovery and some good help from family and friends.
In the other hand, if your toe is not broken and you are using this as an excuse just to gain some time, I just want to remember you that all the bad things we do in this life, we have to pay for them eventually ...

I am laughing my a off!LMAO! Maybe he can apply for government help?Disability?

Just checked my inbox, no PM. Hope I don't miss another growing season.

I'm running out of popcorn here. This is great for us in NY dealing with 6 inches of fresh snow and the threat of another foot on Tuesday!

Never ceases to amaze me about the emotions surrounding this topic. It is a great distraction from the work-a-day world though.

Easily my favorite thread here of all time.

When I read the post I thought the same way that Grant thought (he is not only the smart one), and he might be right, but James said it was a Pinky Injury...Pinky injury is 2 to 3 weeks injury, been there done that. that mean in my mind that he is buying 3 weeks time max, before he started shipping ( I can wait to May-June) that mean if I waited 2 years I can give him the benefit of the doubt for extra 21 days...if he said he had a broken right arm...then I worry...But Accidents do Happen...

by the way I know the Northeast is having a mild winter...but one or two fig trees just starting to bud in my makeshift unheated greenhouses...Just a thought...

James, Have a full recovery and hear fro you soon...

Lebmark,

That's a fair comment.

Sir, this is a public forum. No foul language is appropriate, neither are slurs. We can have discussions without foul language or slurs.

listen, I mean, expressing frustration is healthy (to a point, but nagging? )
How many trees can I offer you to make you a happier individual son? Seriously!

And it don't stop.

As many of you know, I have been rapidly scaling up to handle an avalanche of advance orders that were placed last year, and am behind schedule on deliveries of fig trees and cuttings.  Here's where things currently stand:

Many of the orders for the $7 tree sale were ready to start shipping out last week (if yours was ready, I emailed you), but had to be temporarily delayed because I was hobbled with a broken toe.  Temperatures have now dipped back down into the low 20's again, which prevents shipping, but are due to warm back up late this week, so shipping should commence next Monday.  Many of those $7 tree orders will be shipped out over the next few weeks, but the orders with the rarest varieties (Black Madeira, Figo Preto, I-258, etc) won't be ready until the end of spring.

Most of the orders that had estimated delivery dates of February/March won't be ready until late spring, and will be shipped then, but some won't be ready until late summer.  The orders that will take the longest are the ones containing Ponte Tresa, Galicia Negra, Genovese Nero (Rafed's), and a few others.

These delays are frustrating, but we will work through them.  Thankfully they are short-term issues that won't recur once we get fully up to speed.  The hard work of creating a large in-ground orchard, growing thousands of mother trees, building a bunch of new greenhouses, and installing a lot of electrical and water infrastructure has now been done; next year should go much smoother.

As for the fig trees themselves, they are doing well.  Below are some pics from one of the heated tunnels:

I'm not going to cut off the bandages and buddy tape to take a picture of my toe, but I'll post the X-ray if I can get a copy.

For those who are interested, I snapped my proximal phalanx in half like a twig.  One half almost came through the skin on top.  I straightened it some myself (not fun), but it was still askew with about 1/8th of an inch in between the two halves when I got the x-ray.

James, I have not yet purchased through your site, but I am curious about this operation. Can you share how many orders you have total and how many will be fulfilled by 3 weeks from now? I think specifics would calm a lot of the people on edge in this thread. Perhaps also share what your inventory is looking like?

James, you don't owe explanation to no one.
Just block all the rudeness and concentrate on your work.
And this shell pass.

COMMON PROBLEM with new businesses.
Once all the money has been spent from initial orders, how do you pay for boxes, packages and shipping when no additional orders are coming in?
It does get very expensive.

James, You didn't mention when you will be shipping the cuttings.
Cuttings can be sent even if temperatures have now dipped back down .

Oh, geez.  Don't bring religion into this thread too!

The only thing left is politics.  It's all because of Trump.  He hates women, immigrants, and figgers!

I think religion and politics are the only 2 things that havent been fought over in this thread yet.  It was only a matter of time.

Woohoo
