Here is my project, an 8 foot Kadota tree I received from a homeowner, after digging it up and giving them $50. I want to put it in my back yard after the leaves come back and start grafting to it.

Congratulations on your new acquisition.  Do you plan on putting it in the ground or keeping it in the pot?  Either way it seems to me, amateur that I am, that you've got more top growth than your roots can support.  I'm sure you had to cut some roots while digging and repotting.  If it was me, I'd cut the tree way back and try rooting the cuttings.  I don't know what zone you're in, but you'd have to baby the new trees over the winter.
The thought also occurred to me that if you like the idea of a big potted tree and didn't want to cut too much off you might need a bigger pot.

It will handle the weather much easier if in the ground.

Odd to see a tree leafless this time of the year ? Are you in the south of the equator ?
Since you cut roots, you should top-work the tree and remove some wood .( and try and root those) .
Figtrees are so easy to root ... I'd try to root the cuttings directly. Do you already have a source for the future grafts ?

I put it under the tree since it is the only shade I have. Sunburn and it will be gone.
