Here is a picture of a ripe Smith fig from my tree. This is one great tasting fig folks. Ripens at the same time as regular Celeste and will produce two crops. The late season figs are very good too. It is rain tolerant and bug resistant. However, it is not too pretty. Its flavor will remind you of Col De Dame White.....complex and rich tasting.

Dan the Smith I got from you has one fig almost ready to pick, probably tomorrow. I can't wait to tasted. I hope I'm not disappointed since this is it's first fig.

Hey--Who cares if it's pretty, or not?  It's only gonna get chewed up anyway.  ;)

I have found my Smiths are splitting with the rain and are more watery even though they didn't get a lot of rain on them.  That honey drop is really sticky, too and tastes good.  I got some on my forearm yesterday and it was really stuck there, no oozing off.

I've got a young Smith and a young Col de Dame blanc, so am very happy to hear this report, can't wait til mine produce!! 

Noss, the Smith figs from my tree are very rain tolerant. Splitting will not be a problem once your tree gets some size to it. The honey drips from a Smith always turns to a near solid candy. 

Gene, Smith figs are like LSU Purple in that their taste improves with the age of the tree.

BLB, you will enjoy the taste of both Smith and Col De Dame blanc figs.

 I rooted two Smiths this Spring. Now, in 5 gal pots , waiting to be planted outside next April.
 You guys talking about the taste makes me wish that they were in the ground for 4 years!! I really do not believe that patience is a virtue , when referring to figs.  Fred

If I am ever to get a picture of a ripe Smith with those nice stripes on them, I will have to send a certain squirrel to fig heaven real soon. Caught him in the act this morning. So early tommorrow I go hunting.  Later I will have to bring out the net for the tree as there are too many bird critters after my figs. I will gladly share whateve they can poke through the holes of the netting.....but look out if they get under that netting. Enough is enough....
