Ulster, New York, Zone 6.
Marseilles Black VS was acquired as a gift in late June 2013, It was acquired in New Jersey from VS in July 2012, and was in need of a little TLC after dormancy.
Pictured is my container grown Marseilles Black VS, It was bare rooted, root pruned and down potted (from a 5 gallon to 3 gallon nursery pot) in late June. Although this summer has been cool, overcast and rainy (night low temperatures have been in the 50's for the past 3 weeks), This tree has put on almost 3 feet of linear growth and has 3 figs that are currently at the stagnant stage (they were produced within weeks of repotting) and is producing figlets at every leaf node, which will be pinched. This plant is approximately 1-1/2 years old, in a 3 gallon nursery pot, in a modified 5-1-1 potting mix. This tree is currently one of the fastest growing cultivar in my yard.
