A Few Good Figs......

Found a description for Fetifero' synonym Fico Dall' Osso. Here is the translation:

fico DELL’OSSO: vecchia e curiosa varietà
del Piemonte, la cui singolarità è quella di produrre
due tipi di forniti : gli uni campaniformi di colore verde-
violaceo, altri divisi in due di colore diverso, uno dei
quali sembra uscire dalla bocca dell’altro.

fig bone: old and unusual varieties
Piedmont, whose singularity is to produce
provided two types: one green bell-
purple, others divided into two different colors, one of
which seems to come from the mouth of the other.

It's funny how some words are mis-interpreted or have one meaning in one language and another meaning in another language.

Just like some people swear Mountain Oysters come from the sea.
Carry on my dear friend, carry on.

Wait, Rafed.... you mean those weren't actually oysters? ;)

Let's just say if you had them at Red Lobster you might still be safe.

If not, you better hope there were cooked.

There are sure some very interesting conversations that come up on this forum from time to time.....

They DO look like couilles when they are very ripe, though.....

Marseillaise is supposedly a small desert quallity fig. I'm hoping Yellow Neches turns out to be the same.

Dan, I do not have a yellow Neches but do have a small Marseillaise plant if it does fruit this season I will post pics maybe we can compare then. But based on pics of the yellow neches on the varietal page I think your on to something Dan.

I hope your tree does fruit and you get to post a few pictures......good to hear at least one forum member is growing this fig. It is a fig that Baud keeps in stock at his nurseries. I'm guessing it is a good tasting fig.

Dan,

Do you plan on selling some of your figs in the future?

Rafed,

My work is strictly a hobby/research activity. I really do not have any desire to deal with the public. FYI, I have a few LSU unknowns that IMO are excellent figs and should be widely distributed. I want to give LSU a chance to "officially" release them if they want to and before I start giving out cuttings or making trades for them. For example, I have found what I believe is a LSU Golden "Hunt" fig.....should have pictures this season.  Looks just like a Hunt, except it is yellow. Has closed eye too. I will not consider trades for that one right now.....same with the St. Gabriel Black....no trades for now. Also, I want to make sure they are not duplicates of another name.

However, if there is a particular variety that I grow and you are interested in....shoot me a line and maybe we can work out a trade. I'm always looking for figs that are rain tolerant.

Dan,

I'll take you up on the offer.
We'll get back to each other sometime late in the season.

By then I will let you know what I have to offer for the Fall cutting.

Somehow the link is no longer exist.
Does anyone have picture of Rigata Rossa? Is it resemble Rigato/Rigato del salento (stripe figs) but with Rossa colour?
