Paraíso A very good tasting fig with a complex and sweet flavor. It get's better every year. Grise de S' Jean - Not! I received this variety as cuttings from a friend that bought them in a French nursery (Cochet Frederic). They were probably labeled wrong. Any suggestions on what variety do i have? Noire de Barbentane, perhaps? They seem small for that (35-40gr)... A few ripe figs were available in late August but the one's ripening now are much better - whatever it is. Moscatel Branco A very prolific and excellent fig. Since the beginning of September this tree has produced hundreds of figs despite a severe rust problem that has made almost of the leaves fall. Despite being a honey fig the flavor is not simple and the very good tasting skin is an important part of the flavor. Very nice figs! Thanks for sharing! __________________ Currently growing 50-60 varieties, this season's cuttings dependant. Hopefully I'll get to taste a few more this year...

Preto de Torres Novas A fig that starts producing in August through September. My best fig tasting fig, by far, until now. You eat the whole fig and the skin adds to the wonderful taste. You can even eat them not fully mature and they are still very good. It's no surprise that this variety was the top choice and the most planted in this area for many decades. Jaime hi, Thanks for the pics. The Pretto Tores is a winner, first year plant and in shade and it ripened figs easily. Moscatel Branco also showing signs of breba formation for next year. Francisco I wish i knew the origins too as the leafs are somthing i havnt noticed in other varieties, I searched all over the net and couldnt find anything about it, In Condit there is a Paraiso which is described by "Tamaro" but i couldnt find in condit if it is different than a Paradiso. found this nursery in Italy with Paradiso: http://www.apicepiante.it/en/frutti-principali-2/fico-2.php Jaime does the nursey you bought it from have other varieties ? do they have imported varieties- It can help with the investigations :) __________________ Eli ,Israel ,Zone 10? Hi, Eli. Preto de Torres Novas is a wonderful variety. The taste is excellent. Give it a couple more years and let me know what you think when the tree matures completely. This year we are still without any significant rains so the tree keeps on ripening figs. Regarding Paraíso, unfortunately i don't have any more information and i still didn't return to the nursery where i bought it. I never saw any foreign fig varieties being sold there. They only have 4-5 common varieties usually sold over here like Lampa Preta, Pingo de Mel, Lampa Branca, Moscatel, etc. I noticed the different name on the tag and bought it just to see what it was. Still no significant rain, so the tree has matured some more figs.
