It's January 25th - Currently 53 days, 7 hours and 49 minutes until spring....Not that I'm keeping track...

The cuttings are cozy and growing around the house, and I'm patiently looking for figgy-things to keep me amused until growing season starts. I thought I'd throw this out there....

How big is your ficus carica? I'm inviting everyone to share pics of the biggest fig trees and figs they've seen - your own figs or otherwise....

I propose three categories:

-Largest in-ground fig tree
-Largest potted fig tree
-Largest fig

Variety irrelevant. Location irrelevant. Flavour irrelevant (unless you're willing to send me some)

Tall, thick trunk, heavy, long....show me what you got!

The winner gets....wait for it....bragging rights...

Looks like yellow figs on your tree. Do you know the name?

This tree is very special to me...My cousins call them "figs" - They're not hung up on names... They're very tasty! I believe them to be Fico Bianco di Cilento. Only DOP fig.

How Big?

I don't have any big trees yet either..... One day....But LOL - Mike! You reminded me of the 73' Chevy wagon my parents bought used when I was six...then later used to take my drivers exam....  we were a large family of modest means... And my father probably owned 4 cars his whole life. That wagon was around a long time... The 305 V8 is still probably running somewhere...

That's when they made real everything! The board game operation made in the 70's would electrocute you if you messed up and it was made out of metal. Nice fig tree.

Wow... we used to call those "Gondola Wagons" growing up.... lol... I grew up in a very Italian neighborhood....

Joe - The first new car my father bought was a 1966 Chevy Belair station wagon, the only options he had was a 3rd seat & a roof rack.  It came with a 6 cylinder engine & 3 speed manual shifter on the column, try to parallel park that sucker in the city!

There was so much room in the engine compartment I could stand up inside with my feet on the ground, this was a true workhorse of a car.

Yes that is the one! and the city of Greenville cut it down so it is no more except for the cuttings i got from it and rooted! Ha Ha,can't wait to see what it turns out to be got to be one hardy tree! That is the biggest fig tree i have ever seen with my own 2 eyes in South Carolina.

Bumping this thread because I want to see some more monsters! Don't have any pictures but my largest is an LSU Gold in a pot thats probably 7 feet tall, thing has really strong tendency for vertical growth

This is my (soon to be) Father-inlaw's tree in Bulgaria. He got the cutting from his father, which cultivated the tree until 2 years ago (he's 92!!!). It's supposedly a Michurinska-10 or similar.

Here's my Sicilian Bifera, I also call it my gigantic Sicilian. Did those figs look like this?

Most of my figs are less than 5 years old, but after keeping records all summer
I picked just over 50 pounds of fresh ripe figs.
Does that count?
