Algerian figs

A friend sent me a picture of a local Algerian fig from their village. It reminds me somewhat like a cendrosa and a Syrian 6.
Many figs growing now I Spain and Mallorca island originated from North Africa with the invasion of the Arabs to Spain centuries ago.
What do you think?

OMG are those beautiful figs looks like a col de dame negra and black madiera mix. I wish I could grow figs like that here in Michigan. Thanks for the photo.

What I think is, this must be some place tropical because of the Banana leaves.  I love figs that break into maps when they are ripe with road lines.

oh no... your got my fig addiction started!

Jennifer :-)

It is from a sub tropical climate, Algeria has parts of the Sahara desert and a Mediterranean climate for growing many different fruit trees. They do have the wasp there also.

Bananas do well in many parts of Mediterranean SoCal too. Though many of their leaves did take a hit from the recent frost, it had been years since that happened here.

Beautiful looking figs. :)

very nice looking figs

Cendrosa is actually a ''Hivernenca", it ripens later than the Col De Damma.  So if you are not living in a subtropical climate it wont mature (unless you have a greenhouse)

That's fine with me, greenhouse it is.

shoot if i had one, would send some to Guam if I have to. Always at constant 80° F, sun shines bright like a diamond, nice humidity, never lower than 72° at night. My papá is a gardener loves to grow Chirimoya, Atemoya, Guava, carambola (star fruit), mountain apple, papaya...veggies the list is long. I sent him one barefoot fig tree, it was Golden Atreano. When CdD Grise/Blanc/noir, IT258 and MF roots out, I will send those late varieties to him.. That way when I visit the islands again, I will have figs waiting for me! Premium ones!

I have a cherimoya and atemoya cross very yummy indeed.  Talking about tropical fruits, should try an abiu, fragrant red pitaya and manis mango.....in heaven! (of course figs as well!)

Love the figs, the banana leaves, the beautiful arms holding the plate...but what is that in the back ground? I cannot figure it out.

beautiful looking figs. Was wondering the same Grasa.
