I thought that I had enough my fair share of getting wrong fruit trees, then came along the fig trees when I started it a couple of years ago...So far, out of four trees that I bought, I had one mislabeled as Black Mission, and one Ischia (white) with incorrect picture (Green Ischia), and two small fig trees from Wellspring. Y'all know that fig plants from Wellspring are tiny, but they grow very fast. So fast that one of them, Olympian in 3 gal pot has fruited and ripened. I am actually surprised that it is ready to be picked because it does not look like the fruit from Olympian fig tree...The fig is actually light green with a light tan pulp. It is a little unripe by a day or so, but it fell off the tree with little twisting action and no white latex sap on the stem. So is this fig an Olympian variety or something else? No seed crunch feel at all and hallow in the center. The eye is small. The taste is kind of juicy, melon-y, not very sweet with hint of brown sugar flavor. It appears to me that I hit another kind of jackpot ... three out of four fig trees that I got are either mis-labeled, or mis-represented. What a luck...
