James, regular updates would have kept the haters at bay and added a level of comfort to those who have sat by waiting patiently for a delivery.
I have no idea what the setbacks were and it's none of my business anyway but you posted videos of all the cuttings you has rooted at one time and were working out shipping/ Then poof, nothing from you until recently. I believe that shipping video was in the spring.
I think everyone would have understood if you simply said, look some of the more in demand varieties are going to take time but if you want me to ship your order minus the PT or BM or whatever the hot varieties are that you were behind on, I think people may have been able to come up with a few extra bucks to at least get the majority of their order.
I also don't see this as a smear campaign. People paid a lot of money for trees that thus far no one has received. I also don't think it was clear to everyone that placing an order may result in a 3 year delay.
Now after this huge delay you come out with 3 gal trees for sale? To put it politely, it's just wrong.
My suggestion to you would be to start with order #1 and determine how much of that order is ready to go. By now most of the order should be ready. Contact that person, see if they are willing to absorb another shipping charge and if not, move on to order #2 and so on.
Then when the rest of the order is complete you should be able to just ship it since you have already been paid a shipping charge.
With time and a good faith effort on your part to resolve this you may be able to salvage your rep but the way your going about it now is not acceptable to many people.
