Has anyone here ever dealt with Burnt Ridge Nursery? I was just wondering how they are to deal with. I would like to buy a Stella fig tree and I have only seen two places have them for sale. The other place has some pretty bad reviews.

I bought a VDB from them this year and they were fine to deal with. I have to say I preferred it when I could go in person. The tree they sent was packed well but it sure is a long spindly noodle lookin' thing. No nodes on the long skinny twisted trunk just long noodle looking leaves at the top. It reminds me of my kids when they were going into their teens :) It is very healthy, just funny looking.

Bought "Atreano" from them years ago. Good company, respectable, smallish trees, nice people. Your decision, and good luck with "Stella". Frank

Bought a Saijo Persimmon from them, and it was harvested with tractor,it came with damaged roots,I tried best to grow it ,but it died. Tried to contact them after about 4 Month in Summer, but they did not reply back,so now is my chance to get revenge: Be aware. Edit Note:Yes Andy so was my Persimmon, you used the right word (chopped ),in my opinion it is clear ,they eather use a plow or a buldozer to uproot the plants, now I see I am not the only one that got a tree with damaged root.

I ordered this year. Overall I am happy, service was good and most of the trees are very nice. The one complaint is with the larger Black Beauty mulberry, it is a very nice tree but the roots were all but chopped off. I think it will survive, but will need to be pruned way back. I would order from them again, but probably nothing bigger than gallon size.

I have ordered from the once. Was not happy with the results. I paid for trees they listed as "Large Trees". I do not call a 3/16th 18" tall branchless whip a "Large Tree". When I complained I was told it was within the range of what they call acceptable for a "Large Tree". The other three trees in the order all had issues too. The largest tree was just under a half inch in diameter. It had some branches and arrived chopped to 30”. When I called I got no joy. I even emailed them pictures. Granted my purchase was toward the end of the planting season. I fully expected the best trees had been shipped already. But this was way out of line. Their prices are far from the lowest around and the quality was the worst I had ever seen and the customer service even worse.

Here's the large tree I got from them a month or so ago. Spindly doesn't even begin to cover it.

Tami if it's any consolation they sent me worse. The thing is they were selling trees and "Large Trees". If I had not paid for large trees I may not have been happy but I would have probably of let it go. I can't even imagine what they consider to be within the acceptable range of a medium or small tree.

I guess One Green World is the one with bad reviews. I did order a Stella from them last fall since that was the only source I found. It arrived about two months ago. Packing was great. Tree was a whip about 3/4" in diameter. Removed two cuttings to root and encourage branching. Now I have three trees. Cuttings have leafed out well as has the original tree. No signs of FMV. Could not be pleased any more.

I had no problems with Burnt Ridge. I bought two fig trees and a Stella cherry from them about 8 years ago.

I have purchased several different fig varieties from Burnt Ridge over the past 4-5 years and have had personable customer service and quality trees. I don't think their prices are unreasonable for the product they provide. They will combine orders without additional shipping charges. I have talked to the owner quite a few times about his sources for trees and he was always courteous and resourceful. They will not bill your credit card until the trees are ready to leave their nursery. I have changed my order and even cancelled an order before it ever got charged to my account. I'm sorry if others had bad outcomes but my experience has always been positive.

Burnt Ridge offers things not found elsewhere and I think that's the best thing about the operation. Many of the things they sell are not grown by them. I think I read someone else who posted about that recently that the pecan tree or something they bought still had Dave Wilson's labels on them, etc. Burnt Ridge's location is pretty cold (zone 7b per zip code but might be colder due to microclimate) and conditions aren't really very good. I visited there in June 2000 and it was not like I had expected. Enough said.

I have ordered from Burnt Ridge for the past 3 years. I had trouble with a few of the plants but I thought they had great customer service and the plants were replaced. I have not bought figs from them but I have bought 6 pawpaws and quiet a few other plants. One issue I have with the pawpaws is that they have been fully leafed out and most of the leaves get knocked off during shipping. But the plants have mostly been fine and I will continue to order from them. My favorite nursery is Raintree. Great customer service and the nicest plants. I have never lost a plant from them.

I like trees from Dave Wilson Nursery (DWN). They are very good about proper labeling and sending out good sized trees. Burnt Ridge buys trees from DWN. I don't know of a more trusted wholesale nursery. However not all of the trees sold by Burnt Ridge are from DWN. That’s where they have some quality issues. I believe this is why some people depending on what they purchase receive very mixed results. I personally don't like paying a premium price for a Large or Extra Large tree plus shipping and receive a little twig. Not when I can get a DWN grown tree from another online nursery for the same price or less with lower shipping. Is it too much to expect a nursery to be honest about the size of their stock?
