anyone order fig plants from richters.com?

Hi.  I was thinking of ordering a few fig plants (varieties that I don't have) from their web site.  I was wondering about the size of their $8.50 plants.   Anyone order fig plants from there?

I never order anything from them. According to the price, it's most likely a TC plant that may not produce fruit in a few years. There are lots of discussion about TC plant in this forum, you can do a search.

Hi I was at their location last year and they seemed to be about a foot tall
I didn't buy anything as I had the varieties at the time

Thank you for your comments.

Are their small plants from tissue culture or from cuttings?  Anyone know who might have bought a small plant there.

sammy - did the atreano get better as it got older.?

I haven't gotten anymore figs off it yet.

I bought a stella and vdb from them. The vdb grew like crazy and ripened 3 figs for me out of the 10 on it. I also bought a dessert king from them but it may have been miss labeled as it ripened 2 yellow skinned figs in September, may have been peters honey or atreano as those are the other two light colored figs they have. For us up in canada the prices seem fair.

My one experience there was not great. I went right to the greenhouse in early June. I got a Desert King Fig tree 2 feet tall with about 8 figs already on it.  Stuck it in a pot in my garden with my own HC cuttings that where only about a foot tall. By the end of the summer my own cuttings dwarfed the plant I got from Richters and none of the figs on the tree ripened. I'm giving it another season to see how it performs but I'm not impressed so far.

They had cuttings of several varieties in little tiny 4 inch pots...yes four inch pots. Then they had another area that had larger plants that cost  more.

I was so excited to actually get to a place in our area that had some different varieties but was disappointed with the quality of all the figs they had. My 3 cuttings I started at home looked better then anything they had and this was my first time doing cuttings ever. I'm not saying this to brag...just to illustrate how disappointed I was in a greenhouse having poorer fig trees then a complete newbie fumbling around in his basement at home.

Having said all that I however have to give them a nod for there selection of herbs. Like I mentioned it was June and things where pretty picked over but they had more varieties of herbs then I have ever seen anywhere. I will be going back this May just to see it all before it gets picked over. If you are local and into herbs at all it is well worth a visit.

Not figs, but other plant products with good results. No complaints.

I ordered 7 in 2015. Only two have fruited and one was mislabeled. Half of my cuttings fruit the first year. I wouldn't recommend them at all.
