Atitaya, please tell us something about the panino fig(s) - little background. Are they Italian?  Perhaps provide some photos?  I for one have never heard of either fig you mention and I suspect others here also have not heard of them.  Maybe this will start the discussion.

Panino is an italian cultivar, only one crop, see photo below.

Panino verde dell'abate ( abbot's green sandwich) is one of the nth fake made-up italian name,
and it's also ridiculous.

[dellabate-300x300]

This is "dell'Abate" fig, one crop only, from Apulia.
Looks similar to "Panino".

The names are a big problem, with all these renamed unknown varieties.

I don't have these varieties, then i can not give you more information, of those that i can find on the sites (very few).

'Panino' should be native of Abruzzo, 'dell'Abate' also known as 'Albachiara' is from Apulia.

Hi all.
I have some fig trees and I haven't been able to find the name of the variety.
The photos that you posted look very similar to the fruits I have at home.
Still I am not sure.
Fruits are rather big-size, but still very tasty.
We collect fruits from August to October (there are few fruits on trees by early November).

I think one critical question about Panino or Dell'Albate or Albachiara, is "do they need pollination"?
My trees do not need pollination.

Many thanks for your time.
