Atreano - La Goccia d'Oro

Picked about a dozen figs today and I thought I would post a pic of La Goccia d'Oro since there are few pics of the fig available.
For comparison I've added Atreano and Hardy Chicago onto the plate.
LGdO has a reddish pulp and is probably best classified as a honey fig. I find it much better than Lattarula (Italian Honey). It's quite sweet, some  seed crunch and a hint of brown sugar. Overall I would rate it about the same as Atreano about a 7.5 /10. The  fruit clearly is smaller that Atreano but the tree is productive.
On the other hand the Hardy Chicago in the plate, would be a runaway winner in a taste test.

John, thanks for posting the pictures especially the La Goccia d'Oro. I also have this fig but have not had good success with it. For some reason I have had late fruit set and have not gotten to eat many figs from it. Last year I posted a few pics and I had high hope this year but it did not set fruit until early August.

Thanks for sharing... Without first hand knowledge  but based on what I believe that I have read about the Italian Honey fig and Hardy Chicago taste wise, I would not have expected that Hardy Chicago would beat out an Italian Honey / Lattarula in a taste test. Having just obtained small samples of each, I hope to find out myself in future years...

Cheers,
Tony

Thanks for the comparison! Does the La Goccia d'Oro grow faster then Italian Honey? I don't know about everyone else's but my Italian Honey grows incredibly slow. The Atreano cuttings you gave me did amazingly. I cannot believe how fast they grow!
