Bark Shortage?

I've noticed that Home Depot hasn't been carrying any Earth-Gro bark in any size.  I'm in San Diego County.  Are you finding this to be the case in other areas of the country?

Sorry, They used it all for my order. 012.JPG

It really sucks too

HD and L@wes had lots of the red, brown and black colored bark which was new to me. It was on half price sale last week so no bonus for the marketing team that dreamed up that one.

I bought some Earth Gro bark at OSH, size is good but has a strong eucalyptus/menthol smell that concerns me. It is fresh stuff, not the partially composted that I would have preferred.

Well that sucks.  The garden employee at HD was trying to sell me that colored sap wood crap.  No good.  For those of us in SoCal and NorCal, Armstrong Garden Centers has a product called GreenAll Micro Bark.  Good quality stuff, but twice as expensive as Earth Gro.  The hoarder in me wants to stock up now!

I use GreenAll Micro Bark. It's perfect to use without sieving, which saves tons of time.

The quality of the Earthgro product I'm receiving from OSH varies.Even though it's branded identically it seems the HD product had a consistent
quality which the OSH lacks.Could just be a different "run" of material.I've run through 20,2 cu ft bags this year, and probably need an equal amount to finish up.This is what the most recent purchase looks like.

Not optimum but workable.

Crop Production Services has a Small Orchid Bark,3 cu ft @$11.73 that is beautiful.

That's funny Conrad, when you typed that I went out and gave it a smell.Just smelled like forest product to me.I've been running this product through my pots for 4-5 years and have been happy with it.I don't even screen it,I'm..well,motivationally challenged?Either that or overrun.

If there is an Agway store nearby you; I found that their (1/2" cut) Pine Bark Mulch (not nuggets) is best for me.

Unfortunately no Agway around here
