This is the very first fig that my young tree produced this year. Its supposed to be a purple fig but because of its immaturity, there is only a hint of color in the ribbing. The flavor, however, is striking with berry undertones that must be unique to this cultivar. I cannot compare the taste to any other fig. Of course only time will tell to see how it performs but for now I am very impressed with this Belleclare "Sport". Many thanks to Dave for contributing another great find!
Love the leaves. Reminds me of Longue D'Aout, even the fruit, except, of course, the size. Observations are totally based on internet pictures since I've got a year or two before I can compare the fruit in real time. Lucky you!
Hi Cheryl:I grow Longue d'Aout and it does not compare. Very good observation!
That looks very nice. Is the sport characteristic carried over to your tree as well?
Amazing lobe variations. Congratulations!
Looks like a nice fig and I like the leaves shape!Curious what fig is this a sport of?
Good lookin closed eye.
I believe that it was a sport of Italian Everbearing.Ortegojeffrey, yes the eye is really closed. One of the distinguishing features that differs with LdA.
thats right leon here is a photo of the mother tree
here is the story on this fig....................
Hey Dave, how big is that pot? And that's pretty large tree! How often do you water it?
Hey Dennis that's a 15 gallon pot and depending on how hot it is I watered every day or every other day
You have got to love fig genetics. That is one monster of a fig.
Lewi I have had the tree about 5 or 6 years now and in the past 2 years it produced each Spring 1 huge fig that doesn't look like any of the others it's even a different color ??? i
