Black Beauty 10

Hmm, GreenFin (James) used to have Black Beauty 10 listed for sale on his site (I think it was for $12).  But now (within just the last few days or less), it seems to have been removed.  I wonder why?

Did he just run out - or start doubting what he actually had?

Charlie please post.....

Please tell Brian if he obtained his BB10  cuttings from Gary (aka..Rock) Duhe's orchard.....he is a bald face liar when he stated he was selling BB10 cuttings from the mother BB10 fig tree.  That's impossible because the mother tree is elsewhere at least 50 miles away.

I knew the LSU professor (for years) who planted that orchard. And I am very familiar with all of the fruit trees, nut trees, persimmons, citrus, pears, and berries that Dr. Sid grew in his orchard.......both past and present plantings. The only black fig on that property was a special fig tree that was forced to grow as a dwarf fig tree by using a special technique.  Dr. Sid showed me how to produce dwarf fig trees from large fig trees. This was done with the purposeful intent to grow otherwise genetically huge Fig trees as dwarf trees for pot culture. I never shared this technique with anyone because of its potential marketing value.

Brian does not know the provenance of any of the trees Dr. Sid planted years ago on his property...but, I sure do know exactly where they all came from.  I even know where that dying dwarf black fig that is growing on the property right now, came from. It is not a LSU fig nor is it a BB10 as I've stated.

One of those varieties in that old orchard came from a tree written about in Ira Condit's huge book on figs.

:) With offers like these, who needs ebay to unload figs?

CajunB, the only part that doesn't sit well with me is what you wrote to me on 7/20/15 when I was inquiring about the possibility getting cuttings from you: "I received cutting from Dan and paid dearly for it".  That doesn't mesh very well with everything here.

Somebody is obviously lying. Just dissapointing.

Two leaf photos. Dan and Wills. They are the same. I can't find a leaf photo from CajunB

Folks... I am SO VERY SORRY to have bumped this topic back on post #50 asking about Dan... This topic has turned into a case of men behaving badly.... Lies, acqusations and damn lies... I frankly don't care one way or another whether Dan's is the one and only true BB10 / Kathleen's Black (as he himself suggested in one of his earlier posts) and only cuttings anointed with Dan's personal spit are the only authentic BB10 cuttings and all others are accidental or intentional counterfeits or everyone's is the same cultivar.... be it Kathleen's Black or otherwise a new variety. It surely matters to Dan and perhaps those few others who ONLY look to acquire the variety for monetary gain, it shouldn't matter to those of us interested in figs for their beauty and their taste....

What I do find personally offensive is that the guy doesn't speak for himself... he uses a mouthpiece and hides behind a mouthpiece. Semper Fi? My ass! A true marine wouldn't hide behind a mouthpiece, he would MAN up! Charlie, no personal offence intended but why would you even choose to represent someone who won't speak for himself. I previously thought that Dan was really something... now I think he has become the serpent in the Garden of Eden slithering around and using others to sow doubt, discord and discontent.... I have lost any respect that I might have felt for this person; he went away.... he should have stayed away...

I have been looking at the picture of the mother tree that Dan posted and I can't tell for sure but is that 4 power lines in the top left hand corner of the 3rd picture?

"So let it be written, so let it be done.

I've purchased from three sellers now, all professing to have the B/B -10.    By next summer at the latest, at least I for one will know the truth about which source has earned an "unsafe at any speed" rating.

Brian could you please post a leaf photo?

I truly believe CAJUN B. I am digusted with this horrible B.S. Goodby figs4fun as many of my fig friends have left also.

You are leaving because someone posted a couple comments on behalf of Dan?  If you have problems with Dan's comments, he's not even on this forum anymore.  A couple of quotes from him are not worth getting too upset about.  Just don't read this thread and enjoy your cuttings from Cajun B. :)

Thank you for your comment ADIPOSE. Have a great fig year.

Why would I represent Dan?  That's simple.  I have to.  There's a fig thief and I mean to get to the truth. It could have been anybody and I would have done the same thing. I really don't care who it doesn't matter to.  It matters to many and I represent all of them as well.  Dan still has an account here and if he chooses to pop in and speak for his self then that's his choice.  Maybe he can't access the forum from an Ipad, I don't know.  I set out to do this and will see it to the end and that will be when Dan knows for a fact who stole his trees.  What he does after that is his business.

I never once named anybody I thought was the thief, just showing evidence.  Let it fall on the guilty one.

Charlie please post this truth.....

Brian you have told so many lies you can't remember the truth anymore. I never once sold any cuttings to you or any figs starts of any variety. I never stated anywhere that I had bought Dr. Sid's old Orchard. Why would I do that when the current owner (Rock) has given me full permission to document the growing and fruiting characteristics of all of his trees?  (Other fig growers who have little known O'Rourke special selections, have given me similar permission to study their mature trees.) I have full run of Dr. Sid's old orchard again with permission from the current owner.  I could have sold thousands of cuttings from his trees (and other orchards that I study) if I was into figs to make money.  As I stated many times before, I am a fig researcher and not a fig collector. You've got fig fever so bad you are seeing buildings that do not exist!

Need more proof you are a liar....shame on you Brian.

Here is a screenshot of a post of yours dated 7-20-2015......around the time two BB-10 fig starts were stolen from my front yard:

In that post above you claimed I sold BB10 cuttings to you at a very high price.......liar liar pants on fire. I thought you said earlier in this thread that you got them from the mother tree. Strange that two BB10 fig starts were STOLEN from my front yard prior to your post above.

Furthermore, right now Brian is selling a fig on eBay that he is calling LSU Strawberry.......as though it was an O'Rourke hybrid. Nothing can be further from the truth. Stolen Valor comes to mind..........Dr. Sid personally told me that Strawberry heirloom (which grows in his old orchard in the back right hand corner) originated from Abbeyville, Louisiana. It was brought over by Italian immigrants many years ago. I have pictures with its growing/fruiting characteristics on my Cajun Fig blog......and I still continue to study that tree.  I wouldn't buy that LSU Strawberry fig variety because the Joe Hood Adriatic (JH Adriatic) is a much better fig.....which I've documented in detail on my fig blog.

Shame on you Brian for your lies and the disinformation that you have put out to the fig world. Now you know why I don't allow ANY fig collectors in my fruit orchards.

Please post........

Here are pictures of the BB10 cuttings that I took this morning from the mother BB10 tree. These will be shipped shortly. We had several tornados in my area yesterday and I was not able to go get them  in Baton Rouge as I planned.  Notice these are almost all nice branch tip cuttings with quite a few having a branch notch on the bottom.  FYI.....branch notch cuttings are the best for rooting. This is what cuttings should look like that come from a mature fig tree. Cuttings from young fig trees will look different.

Cuttings from a young fig tree will contain lots of interior wood  with few branch tip cuttings. The leaf nodes will usually be farther apart. Now I ask those who bought BB10 cuttings from Brian, how did they look?  Did they have many tip cuttings as shown in this picture or much interior wood cuttings? Were they all nice tip cuttings....there are thousands on the mother tree. They should have been all tip cuttings if he really had access to the mother tree.

Now if a Brian really has access to the mother BB10 tree that is in Gary Duhe's orchard as he claims, why didn't he sell hundreds more on eBay that looked just like the ones I got this morning?  I left hundreds more on the mother tree this morning for Brian to go get them and list on eBay. They are selling fast at a good price. My Children International kids will be happy with the money from the ones I've sold.

Thanks to all who bought cuttings from me.

Brian your lies have caught up with you! Shame on you....

Last word from me as I will forever disappear again from the fig world.....too many jealous, lying, hateful people. I don't need the affirmation of any fig collectors to validate my fig research work work.

One thing is for sure; if Brian's claimed BB10 cuttings produce the real deal, I will be 100% sure that it was he who stole two fig starts from me.....and that is the source of his cuttings.  Regarding his comment that he put a lot of time to find it is laughable, considering many peeps in my area know about Dr. Sid's old  orchard (paw paw gene, eatmoreyeah, maybe Noss, and another pest exterminator man from Chackbay who's user name I don't recall) its location is no secret.  The actual BB10 mother tree is located 50 miles away in Baton Rouge.....not in Thibodaux, La where Brian claims the mother tree is located.  BB10 is growing in a private individuals side yard along side a couple of other fruit trees. It was not like Brian could  go ask people in my area where he could find one of those BB10 fig trees. No one would know what he was asking about .......because I was the one who gave BB10 its name.  No one in my area knows about that fig. Only a few forum people knew of its name. Sadly it appears Brian stole two fig starts from me.....and he is doubling down with his lies. I'm totally disgusted with the fig community.

Hope all goes well with you and that you enjoy your figs as much as I do. Take care.

In response to the comment about tip cuttings, I did order and receive two BB10.  One was a tip cutting and the other was not, if I recall correctly.

@Dan

I for one am not jealous, lying or hateful towards you. I feel sorry for you.

A lot of people owe Dan a big apology. I don't blame him for leaving the fig community. He worked hard on this fig and it was stole from him, yall would be mad too if you had a prize fig that you found researched and someone trespassed on your land and stole your pride and joy. Thanks Charlie for having the balls to shed light on this darkness!

No I didn't, you are wrong.  I never had Black Beauty 10 listed for sale.  I didn't even own it, and only very recently bought some cuttings after seeing them mentioned on this forum.

There sure are a lot of lies being told about me nowadays.  Someone earlier today reported to me that someone was spreading a lie that I have been blacklisted by Malaysian customs, and yesterday I heard that someone was spreading a lie that I'm going to be shipping out green cuttings.  It's disgraceful that some people are stooping to such depths.

Ahhh, BIG APOLOGIES...OOOPS!!  My memory got confused, and I was actually thinking about another rare desirable, Ponte Tresa, which you do still have listed for $20.

I absolutely stand corrected - MY BAD and a regretful error.  I actually asked, because I've been interested in your offerings and have been considering a purchase...if you aren't too ridiculously backlogged.  I know tensions are rising around all these questions, and I didn't mean to add any bad fuel to the fires here.  Just had a brain fart.  Again, sorry for the false alarm - nothing to see here, folks.

How about those figs...
