The BM cuttings have arrived, looking great!  They are already nestled in damp sphagnum moss in a warm, dark closet.

I'm not sure what i regret the most- the Texans loss or not winning the BM.........ok.. the Texans loss, but just a little more. OK.   lots more, but i really wish I'd have won the BM, too.  Treat'em nice, jrdewhirst!

It's a boy!!!

At the risk of appearing like a proud father, here's an update on the two Black Madeira cuttings that I was lucky enough to win last month (thanks again Brandon!).  If I've done it right, you should see pix below.

As background, I have three actual human children -- two boys and a girl.  The boys were each born 4-6 weeks early; the girl was born a few days late (Caesarian).  So in my mind, any cutting that sprouts early is a boy; any cutting that requires special attention and coaxing is a girl.  So far, one of the BM's is a definite boy. 

First, there's a pic of the two BM cuttings, as received Jan 20.  Both looked great, as you can see.

Next, there're two pix of the more precocious sibling as of this morning Feb 13 -- you can see the small leaf, as well as some roots visible through the side of a 32-oz cup. 

The other sibling is still awaiting delivery -- bud swelling but no roots visible yet.  But all signs are that a younger brother may emerge soon.
