More positive fig sharing!

2016 season Black Marseilles AKA Marseilles VS Black AKA MVSB

Nice fig. Definitely worth having but not my favorite. I'm told it performs really well compared to other figs back East and in areas with summer rain. I'm sure it's in many people's top 5 list out there.

Let's get your thoughts on this East coasters!

Beautiful! I am just rooting now but looking forward to seeing how it does here in upstate NY

One of my most productive and reliable varieties.  It will always have a spot in my collection.

I've got it outside (with protection) here in Z6B RI.  It has survived two winters with air temps below 0F (roughly -5F), without material damage.  It is vigorous, productive and tasty.  Last season I got ~150 figs, beginning end of August.  IMO, its tastier than HC -- more intensity.  So overall, it seems like one of the better Mt Etnas.

That is great information, jrdewhirst. I'm rooting some cuttings now and it's nice to hear positive things about this variety.

The leaf is a typical MtEtna. It one of the most reliable long fruiting figs for me.
If I choose to have only a few, it will be one of them.

I loved mine this past year.  Mine is a slow grower compared to my other in ground varieties (RDB and Excel, both of which are weeds).  It spent quite a bit of energy putting out 10-12 figs on a young plant though.  Mine is a slow rooter.  Took 30-40 days when I rooted it a couple years ago, and my cuttings this winter from the same plant aren't showing any signs (while RDB, Excel, Adriatic JH all rooted several days ago). 

The fig itself is excellent.  Mine had a really interesting acid note that none of my others had, and it worked in the best possible way with the other flavors of the fig, making it really intense overall. Important note for northerners: as of today, I've got zero die back on my plant and we've hit 23 degrees already (16 last night...we'll see how it does).  The plant itself is quite young, maybe 1/2" diameter, so it is quite vulnerable.  Still, no signs of die back yet. 

It is a good variety for me.
Along with Norella, Negronne, Ronde de Bordeaux, etc. it is a good solid producer I consider just beneath my top level very dark figs.
Worth planting or potting here in the mid-Atlantic region if you want variety and you want at least several of this type.

I like this fig too. More productive than most for me including Excel, and RDB. I just mention that to show how different experiences can be.
Taste was just OK for me, but late in the year when the weather became colder, it actually tasted better. So much so it was the best tasting fig in September and October, so a keeper for sure. Part of the reason is tastes better is in the late months it is dry around here, and I can let them hang forever. In the summer they will mold up. So letting this ripen all the way made the difference between a spitter and a keeper. I like figs as ripe as possible.

I'll echo, great fig. It took some years to earn that description for me though, it was on my chopping block in spring of 2015 and I gave it one last chance to prove itself(3rd year fruiting) just because of it's reputation,  it came through in a big way. This summer was fantastic as well. It is one of my top 3 figs for my area.
