Black Spanish

Hi. In new in the forum.
I found these figs at my local Whole Foods and they are labeled Black Spanish.
Has anybody had any experience with these figs.
I see that they've been sold at Whole Foods a few years ago.
Has anybody fruited them yet?
Would they be hardy in ground in Zone 7a (New Jersey)?
Thanks!

The leaves and fruit with the red eye look a lot like VdB to me.

Thanks bigbadbill!
That's what I thought. I was thinking along the line of Negretta, VdB, Negrone kind of fig. Not like the one pictured in the label.
For $19.95, I'll keep it for now and see how it does in ground.

I have two Black Spanish in WA State, zone 8a.  This is the first year that I have fruit buds forming.  I have seen it advertised as growing in zones 7-9.  I would love to know if it will also ripen fruit in those zones.

The leaves on mine match the photo. Mine is a second year. I dont see any figs forming yet. Have to wait til next year.

figeater, chris - where did you get yours?

I got cuttings from bkb-precision on ebay.
