Tony,

I found some interesting information about this fig.  It was part of various fig varieties imported from Texas to China in late 90s.  All those figs were given alphabetical and numerical coding, and this one was coded as A132.  The original name was lost, so they renamed it to Bo Ji Hong.  "Bo Ji" was the translated name of Brooke Shields, so whoever named this must be a big fan of Brooke Shields.  "Hong" means red for the color of the fig.

According to the information I find, Bo Ji Hong produce both breba and main crop, but it is mainly for main crop production.  It is cold hardy, but late variety.  The hardiness information is based on China's weather, so not sure how cold hardy it is to zone 7b in USA.

Great!

USA figs going to China and coming back with a different name (adding more confusion).

I do stand by my original unique (dwarfish) China 'Wuhan' fig specimen though...
[I personally back traced it to the original horticulturist that, way back, first introduced it here.]

The pictures of the figs on ebay were not that appealling to me. The one fig actually had clear tape on it to keep it from splitting wide open. Most had very large eye, so no good for me here in NJ. It might do well in very hot and dry area. I'm talking about fig from China, since that is topic.

In china,”Brooke Christa Shields“ is Translated into “Bo Ji.Xiao Si” ,"Hong" means "red",”fire“..so,i guess the "Bo Ji Hong" fig was a prank, hah

Tony, the measuring tape in the picture is metric and those are centimetres. It takes 2.54 centimetres to make one inch.
Sorry to pop your bubble, or make that "fig". :)
